The kind of crew that guy would bring in would be video. Yes, 35mm film has higher resolution than your run-of-the-mill prosumer 1080p camcorder, but I've not seen any kind of news crew use film in decades. If you watch Nightline, you'll see a lot of the reporters using DSLR camera in video mode.
The last scripted drama that I know of that was shot on 35mm film, was the first season of Rookie Blue. No idea, at this time, if later season were converted to video. Every other scripted show that I know of is shot using video gear.
Even movies are being shot on 4k/5k video. Hell, even a Taylor Swift video was shot using a 4k video camera.
I'll stick with my assertion that that guy will bring in a video crew.
