Video card with HDMI video and audio

Can anyone suggest a video card with HDMI that passes both video and audio and with a dual core or better PC, will process 720 HD with no problem?

Would like to save some money, so "perhaps" something that is used and possibly a bit dated?

Like last few years models for example?

Nothing weird with 3D and overkill -- I'll just use it for my ATSC TV tuner stick primarily.

Actually, my current setup isn't bad but just enough processing jitter sometimes to be annoying -- (current setup being a 2.8ghz single core P4 and an NVIDIA card, can't remember which one).

Total media player as well.

or maybe one of these external USB cards instead?

They "sound" impressive, but are they?

ASUS HD5450 - $15 AR

Rebate is $20 each and good for two items.
I purchased two cards and both of them work just fine.
Low-profile and comes with low-profile brackets.

Why do you recommend this card?
Why did you get two?

Wow.

I had no idea -- I'll have to get one. I have low profile also which would have been my next challenge.

Wish I could find a card with not only HDMI audio out but a toslink as well.

Reason is that I want to run the audio to my old B&K preamp and it doesn't have hdmi inputs. I use that preamp with my main theatre setup with projector.

But, I also want to run the hdmi out through a splitter to other TV's, so that why I wanted the HDMI audio as well.

Ever seen an hdmi video card with a seperate digital audio output?

I guess also I could get one of those switchers that extract the audio.

Getting both optical and HDMI outputs isn't the problem, the problem as I understand it is that Windows 7 won't allow you to use two seperate different audio outputs at the same time.

There are a variety of workarounds to this discussed in several threads here.

Do you need the HDMI and S/PDIF to output audio at the same time?

If not, you could simply switch which port outputs the audio.

For example - when watching on one TV with your receiver, you could set the S/PDIF port to output the audio instead of the HDMI. This would allow you to watch the video via HDMI on the TV, and listen to the audio through the receiver via S/PDIF.

When you want to watch on the other TV, you simply output the audio via HDMI and the TV will receive both video and audio via the HDMI.

I think I'm understanding your setup correctly.

Decent entry level chipset.
Inexpensive (the cheapest on the market right now).
Because the rebate's good for two.

I didn't need either one when I ordered. It was just too good a price to pass up. I planned to use them as back-up cards and also on my test bench for troubleshooting.
Now though, I am building a 6-monitor DJ workstation and I can use these in there along with a 5750.

SPDIF out of motherboard for audio.

Video card HDMI for video.

Choose SPDIF as your output in the sound menu.

If you don't have SPDIF output on your motherboard then consider getting a new HTPC.

I have a 3 way hdmi splitter on the video output my HTPC. 2 of the outputs will be for other TV's (bedroom etc) and will just use hdmi for both video and audio via the TV set.

However, one of the split hdmi outputs goes to my main theater room, video to the projector and audio (via spdif) to my B&K preamp.

So, I intend on getting this card with hdmi video and audio, but the dilemma is the spdif for the preamp (it doesn't have hdmi inputs).

Like I say, I suppose I could get one of those hdmi switchers that provides a toslink output for the selected channel.

I've never used one though.
