When do the 2013 Denon's come out? Any new features we should expect? - Page 8

Hard to change my way of thinking. When it comes to receivers I want a beefy one. I understand there is changes in technology but we aren't talking aluminum vs cast iron blocks in a V8 here. General rule with receivers is heavier=better, IMO. They give you fancy HDMI connections, AirPlay, OSD, Internet audio, etc, etc and they skimp in the amp section. Seems to be the trend lately.

I'm not necessarily talking about Denon here. Im very happy with my 2112 and I've chosen Denon for their features while still having a decent amp section. A few years ago while I was shopping for AVRs was when Yamaha and Pioneer really chopped the weight and power so that just sticks in my head. I just like to have a receiver that is 20lbs + and it makes me nervous when they start to dip below that.

This image has me hoping for some interesting remote control capabilities.

It does and that's not the new app.

Hopefully not too far off topic but the posters here are the right people to answer my question.

I have a 3805 and am considering an "upgrade" to the 1712. I'm quite happy with the performance of my 3805, but what I've read about the Audyssey EQ and how it manages volume levels is a really compelling feature. It would also be nice to get HDMI switching, although I only have two devices anyway (TV and HTPC). I don't necessarily need the power of the 3805, although my speakers are certainly capable of it (Boston VR3/VR center/rears), but I've noticed that the distortion numbers are better on the 3805 than any of the current amps under the 3xxx series. What do you guys think of the decision? Should I be jumping at the 1712 over this price?

Thanks for the opinions!

I know about the Denon Remote App, just mentioning that I hope the new receivers have some additional capacities that you can control remotely.

Looks like the info has been taken down Was anybody able to grab any more images/screenshots or spec sheets that what has been posted here?

Just saw the four new AVR's on Denon.ca are gone also.

Guess Denon is trying to keep this a secret.

I hear some local dealers in my area are meeting end of this month in Santa Rosa to be shown the new product line.

Here I am trying to be helpful on my first swing and I'm not allowed to provide the URL.

If you set up a product comparison on denon.ca, paste the following to get specs for the 1713 and 1913 (and the 1912). Seems to work fine at the moment.

The 1712 is a downgrade in terms of internal components as the 4311CI is the current model successor to your 3805; however, the bump to Audyssey MultEQ XT would be a big upgrade in terms of audio fidelity.

Great catch! Here is the url for the four new ones. I was able to reverse engineer it using the product ids from search results.

I can't post links yet either so you guys have to copy and paste

Edit: Interesting, seems like avsforum's affiliate linking tool did the hyperlinking for me

Looks like it is going to be awhile before we find out if the zone 2 airplay is as good as Pioneer zone 2.

Here are the links to the high res images, my link ban has been lifted You may wanna download em before they get pulled too.

What's that guy doing waving his hands about? Are they techno receivers?!
I personally prefer the look of the xx12's if you ask me.
Is the lower half of the display super glossy? Or is there an acrylic panel that drops down?

1712 is definitely a downgrade compared to a 3805, and in my experience XT doesn't make up for it.
^^
A few pre Audyssey 380X model owners have posted otherwise in previous year Denon lower model threads, indicating a move to even the lower version MultEQ provided a noticeable improvement in audio fidelity.

I had a 3805 back in the day and found nothing special about it. Since then I have had a half dozen or more receivers in the dedicated room and recently a 2112 and 1712. Pure sound I couldn't instantly take one over the other. Throw in Dynamic EQ if you listen at lower levels (of which I don't in that room ) and other features and I highly doubt you'd miss the 3805. Now I will say to my thinking Audyssey XT is held in too high esteem. I'm of the unscientific belief that the receiver itself has more influence in the end result.

There is a new DM remote app. Airplay to zone 2 now works as it should.

It works like that in this new series.

I dont understand some things on the 17xx and 19xx

For the 2012 series
Why make the 1712 have a better Audessey setup than the 1912?

For the 2013 series
Why realize that maybe that maybe the 1713 is 'lower' and downgrade the channels and power (7 to 5 and 90w to 80w) but still keep the MultiEQ XT, but not give it to the 1913

I just dont get it....

I agree with you that the naming/sequence is pretty confusing but I guess it allows people who don't need 7.1 to benefit from better room EQ without paying a 7 channel tax. I also noticed that they have removed all the component inputs as well.

I would be willing to work with 5.1 channels and and all digital inputs becuase that actually matches my current setup pretty well. By the time I am ready to move to a place that can support 7.1 I'll be ready to buy another receiver. Plus all my inputs are digital

I like the look of the XX13's. It kind of give a pseudo "big screen readout" look to it and makes it more distinctive looking than most AVR's. Much better look IMHO than the port screen on current Marantz's.

Thanks for the links and info for those that found them.

what I still miss in the pictures of the Displays is the speaker configuration symbols. I think this is very important for the user Information. A missing would be a lack for me. Very good are the larger digits. For the higher models 2313, 3313 and 4520 I hope for 2 digit-lines and the two Symbolareas for incoming and outgoing channelconfigurations.

The 1712 is designed for those that want the better audio fidelity but have no desire for the networking feature, while the 1713 is similarly designed for those that want better audio fidelity but have all HDMI sources with no need for video conversion or upscaling.

Although certainly a nice feature, the channel input information is available from the INFORMATION menu and the channel output information is implied via the surround mode displayed on the front panel.
