Phono stage costs money, especially when these low-end models are literally watching every dollar in costs.

If it's an input that only 0.01% of customers use, why go through the added expense and design process?

Exactly. These lower level consumer models make money on *volume* and the boxes are getting smaller and lighter. Don't underestimate the value of shaving off a few pennies of cost, ounces of weight, and space in the box for a feature that almost nobody uses.

Internet radio should provide any AM radio feed you need as well.

Looks to me that the 1712 vs 1713. Is Ethernet, and pre-out for zone two, front usb and hdmi on 1713. Vs more power, more channels, more other connections on 1712.

Would be interesting to see internals on these different units. From the outside looks like 1712 is closer to the higher end models, where the 1713 is closer to the lower end.

Might we still see XT32 on the models that haven't been released yet? It has come down on Onkyo's product line, all the way to 818. Would be nice to see Denon lower the entry point of XT32

They are working now, avsforum didn't think the last ")" was part of the link.

weird, I don't know how you even find those links. I clicked away from the 1513 page and couldn't find anything on it in the AV Receivers page. I did a site search and nothing shows up.

They need to upgrade their web maintenance and their news info, IMO. But, if those cuts are made to keep quality in the products, it's worthwhile.

Never heard of it until now...interesting.

Just saw the 19xx has component, meaning the higher ones will as well.

A quick review of the 1513 --> 1913 Owner manuals shows:

* HDMI inputs are no longer assignable (ie. must use labels on jacks just as with analog audio inputs)
* Web Control and SAVE/LOAD of config file (to include Audyssey) feature starts with 1713 (formerly started on 2112CI)
* Auto Standby (30min, 60min, OFF) feature (1613 and higher), (2hrs, 4hrs, 6hrs, 8hrs, Off) - 1513
* Dialogue Level (center channel clarity) added to 1613 and higher
* Dynamic Volume settings changed from (Midnight, Evening, Day) to (Heavy, Medium, Light)
* Audyssey "Manual" setting changed to "Graphic EQ" (1913 and higher)
* 1913 upscales to 1080p/24 (formerly only on 3312CI)
* Audyssey mic changes from DM-A409 (aka ACM1H) to brand new ACM1HB (sent email to Chris K.@Audyssey to get the scoop on this change)
* GUI will display over 3D video on 1613 and higher

1713 pre-amp zone 2
1913 powered zone 2

surprised they didn't do a 1813 with powered zone 2 and have both for the 1913
post #432 of 1844
^^
Zone 2 preouts only start on the 2112CI and were added to the 1713 likely only because it dropped to 5.1 from 7.1 on the 1712.

Isn't this the same as increasing the dB level for the center channel?
I've been holding out for a deal on the 2112ci but now, the more I know about the 1713 the more I am considering getting it if there are some good introductory deals on it. I don't really need the extra 2 channels, nor the extra 10 watts, or the connectivity. I did want the ethernet and load/save settings function, which the 1713 now has. Hmmm, I may have to reconsider...

I wouldn't think so as it probably EQs different frequencies differently.

Apparently effects "output level" in general, rather than just the center channel level.

are you referring to Dynamic Volume? it's not even close to the same thing.

Yes. Was Dynamic Volume not included in this series of models previously?
Cmon 2113 and 2313...really want to know what changes are made from '12 models so I can decide to go with a great deal on '12 or get latest and greatest '13......only need one zone with 5.1 for now but may need 2 zone and 7.1 in the future.

Dynamic Volume has been on Denons since the xx09 models.

ouch! that's going to be a real bitch for Zone 2 usage on something like the 1713 with only two analog inputs called "DVD" and "Cable/Sat". I guess they figure most people will be streaming music via network and output that to Zone 2.

* Auto Standby (30min, 60min, OFF) feature added to all models

this will be a welcome addition for folks like me who fall asleep on the couch late at night

* Dynamic Volume settings changed to (Heavy, Medium, Light)

that will probably be more logical for most people to understand....

interesting, let us know what you hear. The DM-A409 was the same as the Onkyo ACM-1H mic so wonder if they've consolidated the part number?

Okay. I understand now. They are changing the names of the various settings for it. IIR, mine just has off and on.

Your 889 has the old setting names (Midnight, Evening, Day) as do all the Audyssey models from XX09/X89 to XX12.

Right .... ACM1H is also the mic used on the Marantz models as well. So then this newer ACM1HB is either just a more accurate mic or something has changed within MultEQ.

Yup. I never really bother with that setting as I don't really notice much of a difference. It is set to Day. I think that these names are more intuitive than the ones being used now, but that's just me.

I was looking at the 1712, and just subbed 1713 in for the 1712 in the url, sure enough they came up. I tried model numbers for 2113 and those but the page wasn't found.
Interesting that the 1713 has Audyssey MultEQ XT (8 points) but the 1913 has Audyssey MultEQ (6 points)

^^
This has been discussed a few times already ... the 1712 has XT and was positioned for those that wanted better audio fidelity without the extra networking feature. The feature remains with the 1713, likely for those that only want a 5.1 setup and no video upscaling capability, but still want the better audio fidelity.
The 1312 and 1612 are on sale on Denon's website at $50 and $100 off respectively.

http://usa.denon.com/US/Product/Page...eivers(DenonNA)

When the 2312 or 3312 do this I just might jump on one. I know it probably was mentioned before but what's the street date of these XX13 models.

That is a horrible idea. I have no idea why Denon would make that change. I like to be able to setup my own inputs and this would be a pain. Hopefully the ci models still have this feature because that would be a problem for me.
