Need help building a 5.1 system for around $1500

Hello, I'm a complete novice when it comes to home theater audio so I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me out. I have a budget of around $1500 which is somewhat flexible. The room is around 14ftx20ft with fake wood floors. I want to get a 7.1 or 7.2 receiver for when I have room for it. I also currently do not have room for tower speakers. I will use the system to watch movies, play video games, and listen to music. I do enjoy a hard hitting bass in movies but I also want to be able to feel the deep lows. The room where the system is located has a wall that is open on one side. I'm trying to think if there is any other important information that I need to tell you but that's all I can think at the moment. I will be happy to answer any other questions. This is a setup that I kind of had in mind but I would like to get peoples input on it and if you all would change anything.

I have got a chance to listen to these Klipsch speakers and sub at bestbuy so I have got a chance to hear them and I do like the horn in them. What I am wondering is if there is something else around this price range that would be better then what I currently am looking at.

I cannot fault that system at all. More than I have at ultimately less cost retail.

I am not a klipsch tweeter fan, but that is a hotly debated issue, and it is your ear that matters, no one else.

Is there any comparative systems around that same price range that are good? I want to try and look into different systems as much as possible so I can make the best possible decision. Are these receivers good enough to power those speakers without any problems? The area that I feel that I know the least about is the receiver so if anyone could give me some insight into which of these receivers they would prefer.

Anyone?? I have started looking at some Polk audio stuff that would come out a little bit cheaper then the Klipsch that is above and I was just wondering about the Polk Audio CSI A4 and the RTI A1 and if they were in the same league as the Klipsch system?

For subs at the $300 price point, a lot of people like the BIC PL-200 for HT. Supposedly, you can get it for $290 at acousticdesign if you offer them that price.

People often complain that the Klipsch horns can be fatiguing on the ears over longer listening. If you like horns with speakers and want a kick ass sub, look at the HSU Enthusiast 2 package. That's a much better sub in that package than the Klipsch you have listed and the BIC PL-200 I mentioned, and if you search around the forum, you'll find a lot of people like the HSU HB-1 MK2 horn speakers for an HT setup. It's a little more than your budget, but worth it.

Cel just beat me too it. You definitely want to spend most of your money on the tv and speakers, the audio and video. This pkg is fantastic, my dad bought it about 5 mo ago but upgraded the sub to the vtf3mk3 (same sub i have) due to the size of his room. I was so impressed with the HB-1s that I bought a pair to replace my old L&R. They are so good that i usually listen to music in 2.0. They get deep, are very clean and also use a horn tweeter. You can try them out for 30 days and only pay return shipping if for some strange reason don't like them. Good luck.

You better think about putting some absorptive materials in that room like some area rugs and acoustic panels. The hardwood floors will make harsh or bright sounding speakers even more unbearable.

I'd go with the HSU horn speakers over the Klipsch variety.

Sounds like you want a 7.1 system... here you go. Right in the price ball park too. The sub is upgraded to the VTF-3 Mk4 with one extra pair of back speakers. It'll give you the tight bass slam you crave.

Newegg has a good deal on the Yamaha RX-V867 7.2 receiver (95 watts x 7) with full 7.2 channel pre-amp outputs... ready for an Emotiva, Parasound, Outlaw Audio, etc. power amp later on. Which you mentioned above.
