Agree - more concerned with content. I liked going into buildings in previous titles. That along with weapons / cars adds fun.
San Andreas was too big & not enough filler so hope it's not like that.

One of my biggest gripes about GTA games in the past was not just the repetitiveness of missions, but also the lack of exploration.

You're telling me Rockstar can create these huge, sprawling cities yet I can only go inside of like 8-10 buildings in the entire game?

I want to be able to go into an apartment complex, kick in a random door, and see people sitting on the couch watching TV, cooking in the kitchen, etc...and proceed to blow them away haha.

Hopefully something like this will be possible in GTA V.

How about kicking in a door and finding a couple of dudebro's sitting on a couch, playing GTAV, kicking in a door...

So, anyone wager if it'll be based on Dual TITANs in SLI, or actually video captured from the PS60 versions?

And apparently this is the PS3 version, or so says the button prompts. Let's hope so.

It's killing me that the only thing they've said about a next-gen version is "We don't have anything to share about the possibility about a next gen version.." I was hoping to be done with my PS3 gaming by the time my PS4 arrives.

There will be. I'll be waiting.

There's no reason for them to undercut the huge current gen installation base. Especially when they know the majority will pick it up next gen as well once that comes around.

They're not in the business of selling consoles. They'll be happy to sell you 2 versions of their games though, after you bought the lesser one!

Any idea why they went with a rectangular HUD instead of the circle we've always had? And what's with the 4th spot for character changes?
I agree with your thinking Tyrantll, and ideally I'll wait as well. Unless the timeframe is a year or more out, not sure I can wait that long!
Sept 17th is about 2 months before the next gen consoles rumored release dates. Plenty of time to announce and market the "next gen exclusive" with some "were sorry for waiting so long to announce DLC".

it's GTA. No one will care, they'll just want it even more.

NVIDIA let it slip that there's a PC version slated for late fall. X86 PC version so soon most definitely mean next Gen will also be seeing release, which is honestly why the wait.

I'll be waiting. There's no way there won't be a visual upgraded version sooner or later.

NVIDIA has been spilling some beans lately. First they confirmed the existence of a Microsoft MSFT +0.52% Surface RT follow up, for which they’re handling processing duties (presumably a Tegra 4). Now, the company has given PC gamers a heaping helping of hope by flat-out stating that Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto V will release for PC this fall.

The reveal occurred during an earnings call (transcribed by Seeking Alpha and spotted by Crave Online) hosted by Chris Evenden, NVIDIA’s Senior Director of Investor Relations.

There's a new interview with the art director of GTA 5. It's a good read.

I think one of the most amazing features is the way we handle lighting in the game to maintain a consistent look despite the constraints on realistic lighting and shadows on current hardware. Every single light we place in the world is stored, streamed, and laid into the map, even into the distance. The entire world draws all the time: You can fly high in the air at one corner of the map, look over the miles of city and skyscrapers, over the hills and desert to the furthest ridges of the most distant mountains. It’s all there and visible. That’s amazing to see. But the really cool bit is that you can see a street light in a distant town, fly toward it for kilometers until the street itself is visible and the light bulb eventually comes into view. It’s amazing. It’s a level of solidity that I’ve never seen before. It brings the world alive in an incredibly realistic and organic way. That all the lighting the artists have placed to fill out streets and buildings form, at a macro level, the shape of the settlements themselves, that you can look over the desert and see the little towns and trailer parks miles away and get a feel for the road layout even in total darkness and know that it’s not faked, that you can go there: That’s cool.

Yeah, that pretty much confirms it'll be out sooner than later. They're just trying to stay hush about it because they want to double dip.

Sucks too because I really want to play it once it drops but there's no way I'll play it on the current gen systems. I'll wait for the One/PS4 version or just get it for PC.

Its a tough call but I am doing the same. Since learning of the Nvidia slip I have cancelled my pre-order and will just wait patiently for the next-gen version.

Nvidia is not a reliable source and they have since retracted that statement.

Just remember that after GTA IV came out it didn't release on PC for another 8 months.

Good luck trying to wait for a PS4 Xbone version.I seriously don't think R* will release it on those consoles.
I see no reason why they wouldn't release on the next-gen systems. If not though I'll tough it out and get it on pc eventually.

I like how MP is it's own separate thing, looks terrific. I wonder if you can go after other players as they're trying to pull off a bank job. Or better yet, wait till they do pull it off, swipe their cash and make a getaway.

Some of you have amazing will power to be able to hold out on this. There's nothing current gen or next gen I'm looking forward to more.

I am definitely getting this and am strictly a PS3 gamer these days. My friends list is abysmal on the PS3, anyone in this thread please feel free to add me on your list of friends if you plan on getting into the MP portion of GTA 5.

Here is a nice interview with more tidbits about the online portion:
