Well, some success with the 16X AZO Verbatims. One of the two that I tried on several machines is just toast.
The other shows as - prepare for anticlimax - not finalized! With a third failing disk, I'm positive that I had successfully tested it in another deck - but now it too says not finalized. I finalized (or re-finalized??) both and so far they work.
Is it possible that finalization can be done twice? Can it "fall off" and need repeating? Or maybe in sheer lunacy I ejected before it completed? (I just look to see if there's a progress bar on the video screen to decide whether to eject, and I may not be in the room when it completes. Is the disappearance of the progress bar conclusive evidence that eject is okay?) Jeez, I feel strongly that I've finalized every time, and in some cases up-arrowed to confirm it, so that my failing to do so twice is hard to swallow. But regardless, keep up the lowest common denominator or Level One Support answers. ** I only have 10 or so posts here so don't take my stupdity for granted. Condescension is welcome here
(I'm rapidly getting crazy experienced though. Already over 500 individual edits and am managing 130 programs. And yes, the title listing slowness is driving me to madness.)
I feel awful that my user error may have given a red herring. I'll be triple checking now.
New question: if I expect to always finalize each burn (immediately), should I ever consider the (DVD) disk edit "protect" option? Is that something you can toggle back and forth 'ere finalizing? Is its purpose to keep from overwriting a disk that you don't want to [yet] finalize unless you "unlock it"?
Current score On Mag 515:
Verbatim AZO 4.7 16X DVD-R 4 or 5/6
Memorex 4.7 16X DVD-R 1/1
Best Buy no-name ("HQ" maybe?) 0/4
Verbatim white printables 0/3
(Specific item numbers no longer available on last 2. I drove over them, axe-murdered and burned them)
** Way to go, wajo. "Up-arrow and confirm."
