Grand Theft Auto V for Xbox360 - Page 8

Just as a tip, I cleared my 360's cache and was able to jump right in. I had tried about 15 times before that. May be a coincidence, but it's worth a shot.

I actually say there for 15 mins, and eventually the race started with Lamar and another player. But they were AFK at that point, so I blew them all away. And then it proceeded to choke up on the final scoreboard.

I know we all expect hiccups, but this was the worst launch of an online game in the past few years.

Here is what frustrated me. It took me about 5 tries to actually get past the player creation screen. So I had it down to a science and had my character looking awesome. He was wearing a bandanna, some shades, and kind of looked like a young clint eastwood in the face. So I'm finally able to start the game and I see this goofy looking guy in an airplane in the intro. I laughed and said, why would they create such a stupid looking character for hte intro to the game? Then I realized it was me.

He's pale, mostly bald, skinny as a rail, and has rosy red cheeks. To top it off he's wearing these gian red headphones that look like those that a worker on an airline runway would wear and a pair of checkerboard patterned shoes. Looks like a cross between Billy Corgan and Stewart from Mad TV. I am disappoint.

Rehashed garbage. After 3 hours playing this, I turned it off. That was last week. Haven't gone back to it since. Graphics are sub sub par, almost painful to look at. Aiming feels off, cars control odd, acting is one dimensional, over use of cursing and just pathetic dialogue, they ruined the bikes, how could this be this bad? easy, its rockstar. A one trick pony living off of the success of a game from ions ago and of course over the top violence and yeah, all that other stuff that does nothing but give us gamers a bad name an unwanted attention from you know who

Dude! You and I have the exact same multiplayer character!

I tried online again today and finally it looked like it was working. When the cutscene started, I notice the guy getting picked up in the airport looked like a mix between the title character from the movie Powder and a female but wearing red headphones. After a few seconds I realized this was my character and I was like WTF?? This is not the character I created like 10 times already when online wasn't working the last few days.

I did the first race and immediately lost interest at that moment because the character looked so creepy. I'm hoping to try online again but I need a new character. Must be a glitch or something.

I think Disney makes games you can play...

Knife flights are hard as hell. Is the jet the best aircraft to use?

How about it. I cannot believe that criticism R* is getting for this game considering it is on 8 year technology that was not even groundbreaking tech 8 years ago when the condoles released. With what they were given I personally think R* did a bang up job. Are there some issues here and there, of course there are but all in all this is a great game.

Has anyone started up an avs crew? I'm currently in another crew, but their never seems to be enough people on at teh same time to get anything decent going. It looks to be a lot of fun if you have a bunch of like minded people on together working toward a goal, but playing with randoms isn't fun at all. Everyone just goes as fast as they can to the objective and don't work cooperatively at all.

I have been having fun with the races though.
I keep getting disconnected from online to get far enough to level up to even start a crew. I like what I am seeing of the online portion of it, but just when things start get going I somehow get kicked by a user (no reason given) and I would be in middle of a mission! Once you drop out to single player it was then hit or miss if I could get back in to the MP part of the game. Still going to stick with it though since it seems like there is a lot of fun to be had in there.

For me, the knife flights were easier when I realized the left and right bumpers hold the jet steady on its side.

If any of you are still having trouble with GTA V, it could be due to your install. This video deals with the pc, but it could be useful to 360 owners as well:

Is there any way to play the online in a locked room with just your friends and still do missions or just free roam?
Yes, start in the single player and then choose "Go to GTA Online" from the Online menu. The next menu will give you the options for a Closed Crew Room, Closed Friend's Room and even a Solo Session.
And in a closed game, can you still do all the missions in the game, or is it just a free roam? One of my friends said you couldn't do anything private, and I haven't had the time to get back on and check it out.

You can do whatever you want, it is just that the session is only open to people on your friends or crew list depending on which one you select. One thing to note though is that once you start a mission you are taken out of the server you are (which I think is stupid). When you complete the mission you are then put into another server and in my experience it is hit or miss as to whether you will get back into the one you left.

Apparently the solo session is limited but I don't believe the Crew Only or Friend Only ones are limited in terms of missions.

You can definitely get back into the same server. After you do a mission, when you get to the vote screen, look in the bottom right corner just under the pictures of the missions. In a small box it says "Free Roam". Choose that and it should take you back to the same server world you started in. If you just quit out of the voting screen, then it will just throw you into a random server/world.

Oh, I know about selecting the free roam option, but in my experience it is hit or miss as to whether I make it back to the same server or even make it to a server with the same people I just did the job with.

I'm a bit behind in playing this game, but do you need to be at a certain point for online? Or can you jump in anytime? And how is the community?
I haven't actually tried it online yet, I plan on doing the single-player part all the way through first.

According to Polygon though:
Quote:
I say without hesitation that the people I met in Grand Theft Auto Online were the worst I've ever encountered in an online game. Racism, sexism, homophobia and general hate were the nouns that bookended their increasingly threatening verbs. Rockstar didn't design these humans, but they did design a game that awards antagonism directly (being murdered time and again in the street) and passively: Non-playable gas station owners will hurry if a player yells at them via the microphone, inspiring one player to unravel the most foul string of vulgarities I've heard since that "only the curse words" remix of Straight Outta Compton.

These players had no interest in playing (or completing) the missions, races and deathmatches scattered across the map. Everyone hated everyone else; no one seemed incentivized to get over some childish conflict long enough to have a positive, shared experience.

Having attempted GTA4 online in the past though, I'm unfortunately not shocked by this at all.

Eww. I think I'll skip it then. Thank you for the heads up.

It is completely separate. Do not let the web D-Bags ruin a great game for you. You can set up Friends Only game sessions in GTA Online and you will not run into any A-holes. Only your friends would be in that server and you can then do the missions with them.

Sadly I don't have any friends who play this game, hence my asking about the community. I get very tired of hearing the usual stuff said to female gamers (also the rude stuff) so I'm a bit leery about playing online.

If you are ever looking for people to play with, let me know. I have a group of friends on the game, and we are all about playing missions. In fact, we play with female gamers a lot since one of our buddies had a fiance and a couple of her friends that are online, and you don't hear that stupid crap from us.
