Passive biamping isolates clipping to the drivers playing the frequency range it arises from. In my opinion it's worth a try if all it takes is adding speaker wire. It could save a tweeter some day.
As far as I know Norman Crowhurst came up with the idea in the 1950s. Your local library may still have his excellent books. The most basic understanding of Ohm's Law is needed to understand where all this is coming from. A review of the discussion linked above is recommended before replying with anything centered around power getting wasted in a passive crossover.
