SVS Pc-Ultra 13 vs 3 klipsch sub-12's

Hello,

So i currently have 3 klipsch sub-12's that i got for a steal from bestbuy/kijiji
but i have ye old upgrade bug. Im thinking of selling all three klipsch and buying a single pc-13, but im skeptical. Firstly, cost. I could probably sell the 12's for $900 if im lucky, leaving me with another $900 to spend on the pc-13. Secondly, my room (12/28/8) seems to have lots of dead spots, this might be partially because the rear firing ports are a mere 6 inches from the walls, but its likely from poor room acoustics. Having 3 subs really helped this, so im concerned having only one sub might reveal the dead spots again.

So my question is, is it worth it to upgrade to the pc-13? I realise it goes much lower, and probably sounds much better than the entry level klipsch. I wouldnt expect the single sub to be louder than the triple klipsch's either? In the future i would plan to get a second svs, but it would take a while to muster up the funds for a second haha.

Any advice is appreciated guys.

Oh btw, i have a klipsch f-30 system if that helps.

Keep the Klipsch's and wait until you have the money for a real deep bass sub. One of the best systems anyone has ever heard is based on multiple average subs and 1 deep bass sub. Maybe I can post a link some time. And, given your difficult room, the use of multiple subs is even more important.

Thats a pretty good idea. I would get rid of one just for space requirements and keep the other two. Also, upgrading my reciever from my avg hk to something with room correction would probably help im assuming.

Think carefully before you get rid of even one of the Klipsch. IIRC, the more average subs you have the better. So, the object would be to keep all 3 Klipsch and eventually get a deep bass sub that you have room for. A receiver with the top-of-the-line Audyssey XT 32 processing would be nice to have, however, the more average subs you have the less the need for external equalization.

Unfortunately being a university student it would really help to just get rid of one, plus with my room set up the only place for a forth sub is the very back of the room, and with it being such a long room it really wouldnt benefit it much.

Lots of people place subs in the front and also in the back of the room. This placement seems to be very beneficial. So, keep those Klipsch and save up for a deep bass sub. You'd be surprised how well a deep bass sub would sound in the back of your room.

You could just build a sub. I had a free Klipsch RW-12 driver, spent about $150 in materials (not including the $100 BASH 300 amp) and was able to almost perfectly match the performance of one of my SVS PC12 NSD's. I wasn't completely happy with my bass until I had three subs in my room, 2x SVS PC12 NSD + Klipsch Sonosub (originally started with 2 Klipsch RW-12d's). I am toying with the idea of building a much larger sonosub with a 15" woofer... Although my current setup is flat lower than I can hear.

So is the pc13 ultra not a deep sub?
