Help! CF181D stopped working

When I try to turn it on the blue lights come on going around in a circle same as usual. After that though my lamp light flashes red and the operation light flashes Orange. The manual is no help in this instance. I tried calling LG support in the states ( I'm in Canada) but the number won't work for me. Any advice?

Assuming you don't have a lamp failure, then the projector has a problem and should be sent in for service. That projector has a 2 year warranty, and since it started shipping in late '09, you should still be under warranty. Don't do anything to void the warranty.

If it is a lamp failure, that WON'T be a warranty issue. A weak or failed lamp can cause that problem.

What I don't know about is the Orange Status light, which according to the manual, is an overheat problem. But I've seen projectors give that Heat error and not even be the problem.

Unfortunately, the only way to test if it's the lamp is to install a new lamp. There is no other way to test if a lamp is good or not. They do not have filaments that can be metered.

Not sure about the LG, but some projectors have a PHYSICAL switch for an overheat reset. Until this switch is pressed, the projector will not turn on.

Sometimes it's just the lamp got a bit too hot and flipped the overheat switch as a safety precaution. On an old Sanyo, I had to push the overheat switch several times until I bought new filters because the filters were clogged causing it too retain too much heat. The LG manual should give you some ideas on this if such a switch exists.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'm going to buy a new bulb and see if that's it. If it's a service issue it's going to be a pain as I'm North of the border. As for the over heat switch, I can't seem to find one anywhere, not too sure if this model has one.

Before you buy a lamp, answer this...Are there ANY status lights on when you plug it in, BEFORE you try to turn it on?

Sorry for the late response. Work is keeping me busy for 18-20 hrs a day lately. Anyways, I unplugged the projector for a few minutes, then plugged it back in. All I got was a solid red light for the operation indicator. I'm almost positive that is normal when off though. No help from the manual.
