HDHomeRun stream to iPad? - Page 2

For those interested, we are working hard on making next version of Telly a PC-free solution. Telly 2.0 will enable direct streaming from HDHomeRun (ATSC/QAM/CableCard/DVB) to iOS device.

Currently we are looking for beta testers. How to join beta & more information can be found here at Silicondust forum:

And beta 3 video demo is available here:

Well, iPad1/2/3 is capable of playing back SD video and iPad2/3 is able to playback 720P is 'fast' mode. 1080i is out of the question for now.

Telly has been renamed to InstaTV and it's free for a limited time. Please note that the currently released InstaTV is a transcoding solution which means a Windows PC is required.

I'm having trouble detecting any tuners. I'm using a Hauppauge 2650 Cablecard tuner. Based on the help section, I changed the HDHomeRun Setup to default to ATSC / QAM (rather than WMC), but that still didn't work. Rebooted too just in case.

Any suggestions?

For CableCard tuner, it is required for the application to have the same bitness (32 or 64) as the Windows. Are you using 64bit Windows 7? TellyServer currently only have 32bit version and a 64bit build is being considered.

I received a few bug reports for TellyServer on Windows 8 unable to start.

This will be fixed in next release.

To workaround the issue in current version, just right click 'TellyServer.exe' and 'TellyTuner.exe' then set both compatibility mode to "Windows 7"

Sorry for the basic question, but I see no mention of GoodPlayer in either the InstaTV site or the App store. Is a separate player app still required for iPad viewing? If yes, which one(s) supported?

There are two branches of InstaTV. The one available on AppStore is a transcoding solution that requires a Windows PC and an ATSC/ClearQAM tuner card. No external player is required.

Another branch that is still in development (InstaTV 2.0) is a direct streaming solution that does not require a Windows PC. It streams directly from a HDHomeRun device to iPad/iPhone. It's currently in testing and should be available sometime this summer. It does not require any external player anymore.

We have just released InstaTV 2.0 beta 5 today on TestFlight.

For those who do not have a TestFlight tester account and want to access the app as well, InstaTV is now also available as QuickTV-20120620 on a Cydia repo: http://apt.appbeta.org
QuickTV is based on the exact same source code as InstaTV except it will be updated more frequently.

So just to be clear: On Cydia it's called QuickTV and on AppStore it's called InstaTV wink.gif

Changes:
- New: Requires email for follow-up
- New: Available as QuickTV on AppBeta.org
- New: Show audio property on audio selector
- New: Improved multi-tuner support. Now each HDHR device have a separate channel list. This is useful when there are multiple HDHR devices with different signal source.
- New: Improved native AV decoder
- New: Improved logging for better feedback
- New: Show which tuner is currently used in channel list
- Fix: Change audio stream causes crash
- Fix: Various bugs based on Beta 4 feedback

UPDATE 1: If your JB device can install but can't start the app, please wait....looks like we have a build problem. It works for some devices but not all.
UPDATE 2 (June 24): If you used Absinthe on the Mac to JB and have problem start the app, try Absinthe on the PC

I have installed the beta app on my iPad3 and it's awesome! Anyone with a HDHomeRun and iPad should definitely check this out.

It crashed a few times but the SD and 720P video looked flawless. 1080 video is a bit choppy and hope this can be improved.

Can't wait for the final release. biggrin.gif
