I would also recommend everyone writing reviews on the main sites (amazon, Tiger, NEwegg), something like:
"Slight pixel blurring issue for HDMI over PC connection, waiting for Acer to fix it, 2 stars until then"...
3 reviews on Amazon, 0 on Tiger, and 1 on NewEgg....the blurring is an issue and there's an opportunity to make it easy for people to realize that. Hope Acer fixes this problem because it's a really good PJ.
For all of you folks who bought the 9500 and think the picture is very good, it is. Yes it could be slightly better but from normal viewing distances it is too hard to tell.
To maybe put things in perspective (and not trying to be contrary), but isn't this pretty much what Acer was saying to you?
I appreciate that this was before your crusade through Acer's CS jungle got your blood pressure going.
They do not appear to operate that way. Acer seems to respond to owner complaints. If there are not enough of them then they all but dismiss yours and ask that you send your unit in because you are the only one. That is a support protocol thing. Anybody not getting where I am going? Call them up and insist that they test the complaint under case# 1505588U. As for myself, I promise I will continue to try to get through to someone who understands what I am talking about and can appreciate the impact. Thanks.
Thank you engkiat. We will all benefit if Acer pulls their head out of the sand on this one.

I should have posted it was hard to tell the difference on most content. But now that I know what I am looking for it is easier to spot. Do not get me wrong, it still does a very good job, somehow, like my DLP TV does. It has the same pixel mapping issue/blur.
And PrimeTime you are exactly right about my blood pressure getting up. I accepted what Acer told me about the picture but they refuse to accept what I am telling them about the picture. IOWs the picture can be better, have a look at these pictures and here is how to prove it to yourselves. No sir, you must have a faulty unit so send it in. I have the entire weekend to post reviews on this unit. I probably won't wait. Maybe if sales grind to a halt then they will read the reviews and figure out why.
Darn... Got my new projector mount today from monoprice.
And this thing has no rotation... Ha.
I need to use laser precision robotic equipment to install this thing..

Send it back. That is another reason I used an old tripod for a mount, it moves every which way without a tool.

I did the same thing on every site I know they sell the unit. Now call tech support and tell them to address my case # complaint. They need to own this. Thanks for your help. We will get their attention at some point or destroy their sales of the unit. They can choose.
That's why I wondered why the hell the image is less sharper and crisp compared to my other Acer H7531D! Now I got this ! My question is , if WE join together , and each one of us is complain to Acer customer support, will they do something about it !? Is there any other way we can get their attention ? Now my H9500BD is in Acer's repair depot for 2-nd time, because their "technicians" were unable to find out what is wrong with the unit. It was defective lamp/bulb causing pulsing image on the bottom left and right corner of the screen/more visible on Eco mode, less in Full /. I've tried everything and did a lot of tests to be sure it's 100 % the lamp. Did some of you know if there is appropriate link or section where this complains can be reported. Thanks in advance and excuse my English
Thanks to mike for his persistence. I'll file a complaint to acer Monday as well. Only outcome will be to raise awareness from the user base. At least benq listened and did something about it.

This was recommended earlier in the thread and is the one I got. Works fine and is pretty cheap ($50). As I recall, it's so easy to install, even a caveman can do it. There's one bolt which is a bit tricky to install if you are doing it alone because you have to balance the PJ and line up the holes, but, hell, I did it a few times and I'm dumber than a bag of hammers....

Looks almost identical to the one I purchased http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o00_s02_i00 True it doesn't have a turn table but the four arms that attach do allow rotation of the projector. Enough anyway unless one mounts it at a extreme off angle of 45deg or so.
Also per the amazon display it shows a 10deg rotation at the first connection of the mount. I didn't utilize that I used the movement I had in the four arms.
Hope that helps anyway, if is the same as the one I ordered off amazon it is a very nice mount for the cost in my opinion.
The more I watch, the more I think the HDMI inputs have some default noise reduction going on. It still looks better than my old LCD pj as far as color, black levels but it looks like some NR is going on. And there's non listed in the picture adjustments where my panny ae3000 had two forms of it u could play with.

I am not sure what is going on there. Frankly I tire of the unit not having the ability to tell me what I am watching except briefly when switching inputs and you better look quickly. Therefore I just use the Onkyo AVR. Another shortcoming in the unit I suppose. Certainly nothing in the menu to display this that I have found but I could be wrong, and I doubt it. The Acer menu is weak compared to other units on the market.

The Acer menu is horrible compared to other units! That is by far my biggest complaint with the projector, the ability to have only one customization per resolution/input. Even that one customization isn't permanent for as soon as you change anything on one of the default settings you overwrite the one save you had... has to be the weakest picture control setup in the history of television/projectors.
The onkyo will tell you what is going in and out so that should help you. Also - just lock it to 1080p60 output, that should stop any gyrations that the projector might go through on changes channel ect...

That was my suspection as well. There is a Noise Reduction setting but is set at like 2 or something can not recall and is locked from change. Not sure if it has the same default setting for VGA input or not since unable to test VGA down here.
As for the short comings of the projector, yes it has some have they been deal breakers for all,,,, no, but yes for some. Same as the short coming's of the HD33 and 3010, it is a pick your poison.
Well I got my replacement pj from TigerDirect on Friday and this unit looks like it's functioning properly. I went ahead and made spot for it in my basement and hung sheet to project on and I'm really happy with the picture this thing throws up. Watched Rango, streamed on Netflix, and it looked great to me. I don't think my kids moved an inch during the whole movie, they were in awe!
We had some friends over last night and the guys ended up in the basement watching the Blues game. Watching hockey on a 100 screen was pretty sweet! After the game I turned on the last bit of the movie Seven and everyone came downstairs to check out the pj, for a few minutes I thought, they were all blown away and we ended up watching the rest of the movie, about 20 minutes.
No one mentioned seeing any rbe so that's good. Unfortunately I do see it but I've found the longer I watch the less that I see it (notice it) and it's really not bothersome when I do see it. I didn't see a bit of it when watching the hockey game or when watching Rango so I guess the content matters as well.
All in all very happy with the purchase. Now I just need to make myself put it away so I can finish this basement.
Know what you mean about "finishing the basement." I've got a couple months to go yet before mine is done -- I figure somewhere around the release of the Titanic 3-D BluRay. which has "3-D Projection" written all over it.
Maybe by then Acer will make some improvements and pacify the critics -- and Love will reign supreme here.

That is my goal. I am pleased with my 9500 but having looked at what it can do via VGA input, I want that on the HDMI/DVI circuit not just for me but for everyone. After all, better is better. If everyone who owns this projector contacts Acer and requests this issue get resolved they ought to get moving on it.
I tried tech support and customer care and do not feel that I have their attention. So now I am trying to get their attention in another manner.
I do not feel time is on our side here folks. I do not know when the next Acer 3D projector will roll out but there comes a time when it is more beneficial for a company to work out the new model than put resources into a current one.

It may also be true that when they "fix" the new model, that will also fix the old one (or at least make the firmware fix simpler to implement on the old model). Engineers often stick with many of the same component parts they've used in the past. That's just a tendency. Sometimes products get completely re-engineered.
Just got my unit in from Newegg and it's DOA. They won't ship a replacement until they get the defective unit and have it "2-5 days". Won't let me buy a replacement and then refund the money when they get the bad unit back. Worst experience with a projector so far. Poor quality control seems to be a trend with this model. Oh, and with Newegg it's non-refundable, replacement only. Hope the next one works...

Yeah, their return policy is horrible. I dealt directly with acer on my last return and will on the next one as well which is coming up. On the blurring issue, i followed some of the suggestion listed and changing refresh to 48hz made a huge difference! But... No 3d at that setting due to HDMI.
Keep thinking about pulling the trigger on this since page 20 ish but these concerns over the hdmi have me holding out. I wish acer would address this with their customers and has me thinking maybe you guys should get a "fix the h9500bd thread" up to see if they take not. One thing I am still not clear about is ..... Does the hdmi work fine with the ps3? Has anyone loaded up the ps3 browser and had a look at the text etc.......
^^^ I'd like to know this too. PS3, Xbox360... are they fine, is it just PC causing problems???
I have a JVC X70 I'll be using to watch Bluray movies. I'm looking for a 2nd projector exclusively for Xbox360 gaming and 3D movies. For gaming/3D, is this the projector to beat in the $1500 range?

It's not just the pc output, its just not as obvious when watching video. The benq W7000 had the same issue which benq just fixed. On my larger sized screen, its quite obvious after the fix, especially when compared to my RS55.
Click on the link in my sig to see how the 3D compares to several of the current models, including the jvc.

The Acer has pretty high lag in 3D mode, so 3D gaming might not be satisfying for you (lag shouldn't matter for 3D video as long as you can adjust the audio delay on your receiver). 2D gaming is much better at around 30-40ms of lag.

They have the URL for this thread from what they told me. So I am going to expand my effort. All owners who have not please call up and ask what is going on with case # 1505588U. Those of you thinking of buying this projector, and do not get me wrong it is a pretty good unit, call up Acer's sales department and tell them why you will not take the plunge by mentioning my case #. We all know no projector is perfect but this one has some problems that to my knowledge none of which have been fixed. Not a single one. Before anyone asks for the recap, leading the list is 1:1 pixel mapping no matter the cause, SBS tearing, then there is the slow signal processing when changing channels and some other minor issues such as unit shuts down but those are probably faulty units.
My primary concern is the 1:1 and the blur, the rest I can live with but you may not be able to.
