Thinking you know of this thread but maybe not http://www.avsforum.com/t/948496/avs-hd-709-blu-ray-mp4-calibration

Yeah. I downloaded AVCHD-2d.7z because I have a Mac. Nothing except a few of the JPEG images worked.

I planned on checking that tonight using my Sony 780 blu ray's youtube app.
Mega, If you log on, resend info so I don't have to go looking for it again.

Hmm? What info?

The clip I was talking about is the "Ice Age Continental Drift Trailer in 3d" on youtube. Search for that, then change the video quality options to 1080p and Side by Side 3D mode. Thanks!

That's the one. I'll check it out. With my blu ray, I shouldn't have to do much of anything but play it. Right?

You're probably going to have to change the quality and the type of 3D.

The picture is very clear. Unfortunately, I couldn't get to the 3D link while accessing youtube ICE AGE 3D trailer to check on the tearing on my Blu Ray and when I tried to play it on my Mac, it said there wasn't 3D media available or something like that.

Did I say the picture is clear??? It is except that PJ WON'T FRELLING SYNC UP WITH THE GLASSES!!!! I tried 3 different pair with the same result. ARE YOU F-ING KIDDING ME???

I have always been very lucky with electronic devices. This is payback in spades. I'm a pretty patient guy, but am just about at the end of my rope. Unfortunately, I didn't check out the 3D until tonight.

Don't forget to enable 3d in the menu and set your ps3 for 3d

That sucks, I hope this doesn't have to do with the FW upgrade. Generally, my unit syncs automatically with whatever 3D glasses I turn on near it.

But yah, be sure to enable 3D in the projector menu. I usually set mine to auto, but you may have to manually select SBS mode.
Yesterday I bought an Acer H9500BD with the new firmware, and I made the same experience as Incali did for 3D. It seems, as there is something asynchron. I tested the PJ with my notebook and a 3D Blue Ray (TinTIn). With this performance of the PJ there is no way to watch a movie without getting sick.
Has anyone else the same expirience?

BR
Well Shazaam already. Make sure to enable 3d for sure. Try the manual setting until you get it working. For now I usually get by most times with it set to auto. Was there any additional user settings to save?

How in the wide world of sports do you know you have the latest firmware? Nobody can check if they have it, if they have it. Have you tried the power-left-left-enter buttons thing to see if you get into the service menu? Where did this latest firmware projector come from if you don't mind me asking?

AARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!

My son gets a "D"......

I was wracking my brain last night as I was trying to go to sleep:

I know I set everything up right
This is DLP Link....it "has" to work
etc.....

So this morning, I got up and asked my son "Were you playing with the HT while I went to the store and took the dogs for a walk?"
"Yeah, I had to turn off the 3D because I got this weird message."

Mystery solved and I'm considering grounding my son wink.gif

I'm still trying to get the info (service menu access, firmware update and screen which shows it, etc.) and called the customer rep this morning to make sure he understood that.

Here's some (not so good) ways to find out whether you have the new firmware:

Can you get to the service menu by hitting "power/left/left/menu"? If no, you probably have the new firmware.
Does the color management system look like the screen shots of what I sent in" If so, you probably have.....
In 3D mode settings you can "only" use "invert" with the new firmware (I found this out this morning when I tested the 3D problem I had last night)
I "think" the 3D adjustments used to be on the same screen as the 3D on and off. Now, when you turn the 3D on, you get a separate adjustment screen (this might not be right. It's been awhile since I saw the old screen rolleyes.gif

Go to the main menu and scroll down until the 3D screen comes up. Turn 3D on. A new screen will come up. Use "Automatic" for 3D type. Should work......

Whew, glad that is working because I was about to lose any/all confidence with Acer. I know our single pixel line test did not go well and you do not have VGA output capability at present but I was wondering how the unit displayed the Mac desktop (or whatever Apple calls it) and screens when you were trying the test? Compared to my unit pictured on page 83 post 2486 how would you say it looked?

Refer back to that page to compare with the VGA if you think that looks good and to refresh your memory. I understand Zombie is sending you the AVS disc. What is the ETA on that? Acer is running out of time to confirm a new Firmware by the end of the week.wink.gif

Hi Folks,

I got the dimensional optics glasses yesterday. Unfortunately, I couldn't test them because "SOMEONE WHO WILL REMAIN NAMELESS" (Jacob) really harshed my mellow yesterday.

I do want to test them and see how they match up with the Acer glasses. One thing is for sure, they aren't nearly as ugly, are rechargeable (A nice feature IMO...though others may disagree), come in a really nice box, and are $20 cheaper. We'll see how they stack up.

My Mac desktop looks noticeably clearer than the pictures, but that could be due to the camera. From 10 to 14 feet away the letters/numbers are razor sharp on a 120" screen. I don't have great eyes, but my son was "wowed" by the clarity and commented on it. I seem to recall some pictures of some folders on a desktop where you could see some distinct blurring......for "sure" there's none of that from (at least) 10'....maybe closer.
Well this is not as noticeable from 10-14 feet back either. That is why I got up close to look and use the camera zoom to illustrate it. Same with the single pixel lines test. I put it up as it opened and got close and zoomed with the camera to see what was going on. If I were to zoom in to the image of the lines with the computer I am sure the lines would have gone to heck and rendered the test invalid due to source material flaw. I know this seems silly because if it looks good from normal viewing distances then who cares right? Well that is what this whole exercise was about in the first place and how the unit got by a lot of reviewers. Even with the blur/pixel mapping issue, my 9500 looks sharper than my 3LCD PJ in all circumstances but I have seen the 9500 look even better than that via the VGA input. The 1:1 pixel mapping is the purported fix we are after and one must take care to be sure that this has been done. The AVS disc will confirm this along with some other proper material. Dead giveaway is when you compare my desktop pictures and look at the black text e everywhere you see it. There is a shadow inside the top portion of the e with the HDMI input and none whatsoever with the VGA input. Actually the same goes for the e in the blue text as well. Good luck and happy testing. Another great day at work I am sure.smile.gif

Hey could you check the hdmi scan settings in your new projector when you get home. In the stock firmware there is auto, overscan, and underscan. Auto and overscan always looked the same to me. Underscan shows the most image and I think gives a better picture for fios sourced content. I would hope if they created a true 1to1 mode then it should show up there as an option like pass through or native or something like that. Very curious.

Hi,

I ment that I have the new firmware, because the menu is different to the other acer h9500bd which I have seen before. However, it is not possible for me to get a good 3D feeling.
How can I explain it, it looks like as there is a time warp between the right and the left eye, sometimes its really hard to watch it without getting headegg. I tried all options 3D mode on, with automatic fomat, or SBS.
The 3Dblue Ray is 1080p/24 SBS format.

3D Blu-Ray is not SBS but is frame packed/page flip or what ever you wish to call it. Or are you saying you are playing a ripped/copied blu-ray changed to a SBS format? Sounds like your glasses are inverted have you tried swapping that? If that is inverted opposite eyes see what they are suppose to and yes will get a headache quickly. On mine the only time I have to invert now and then is with SBS or TB 3D formats, 3D BD has always been correct.

Have you tried while projector is on and Acer logo or source material visible pressing in order Power, Left, Left, Menu? If it brings up a menu what firm ware does it have?

With the new firmware, I was unable to get it out of "invert" mode. Don't know why. It worked fine and everything looked perfect. Maybe there is some reason for this behind the update???

I"ll ask my rep.

If you've watched another Acer (old firmware) and didn't have this problem, maybe there's a problem with your projector??? Do others see the same thing? If so, I'd say you should try a new one. If not, maybe you're sensitive to 3D??? My wife gets sort of sick at certain 3D movies (not all).

Seems odd but I do recall reading 3D BD as part of HDMI1.4a it sends a sync signal. And like I said I never have had to change it with 3D BD movies or frame packed games. But with SBS and TB formats I have had to change it. The True Depth glasses allow swapping on the glasses themselves but not possible with the Acer glasses to my knowledge.
Curious what they say for locking it out and if is just locked on pageflip but able to change with SBS and TB formats.

Can you change settings on the Acer glasses ? Tangled 3D bluray was looking weird the other day, seems like one image overlaid on another image. I then clicked on the on/off button one or two times and 3D was normal again.

Sounds like your glasses lost sync and powering them off then on regained sync. If looks odd you can invert left for right in the 3D menu. It has been awhile but off memory, click menu while watching 3D content and click invert. I know of no way to change settings on the Acer glasses, believe the button is a on/off button only. I know if batteries become low they will lose sync intermittently.
