Damn, that's it!? Did you get it online or in the store? Open box?

Sounds like a great price.

In store, brand new. I had them price match, I think you could probably get one a dollar above cost if you can find somewhere else selling it that cheap.

Perhaps a misinterpretation or poorly written GUI. AFAIK, the DSX audio is derived from the FL/FR speaker tracks and requires a center speaker as well.

Priced matched!?!?

Who is selling this for $1,255?

The cheapest I've seen it at is Vanns for $1,319.88 + FREE shipping.

Priced matched with Crutchfield. Penfed member 7% discount and another 10% discount on top. Wasn't sure it was going to fly, but they matched it. Would have actually been cheaper due to tax to get it from Crutchfield but easier to deal with a local Best Buy if there are issues and 60 day return/price match if it goes lower.

How did you get a 10% discount on top of a 7% discount?

Sounds a little fishy to me. rolleyes.gif

Is anyone with a 3009 running four subwoofers?
If so, what's the best way to hook them up to get the best results with Sub EQ HT?

The Vanns price is actually a better deal, since there is no tax and the shipping is free. I think I may bite the bullet and pick one up at this price. Onecall.com also has it at $1,319 with free shipping.

Don't you think the price will drop even more now that the 2012 models are out?

Not sure. This is the lowest I've seen for this unit new. I'm afraid if I wait too long they may begin to get scarce

With BB I have 60 day price guarantee so it should cover me if the price drops more.

Strike while the irons hot.
$880.00 off the retail price, is a great deal!

Will you also order a cooling fan for your 3009?

How are you all dealing with no 12v trigger for zone 1 with a second amp?

I looked further into it and my interpretation is apparently correct.  If you choose to use BOTH wide and height, you need to make that specific choice in the Speaker Config menu, then the GUI will show that you now connect the Wides to the Back Surround outputs.  I have to assume that the signal sent to those outputs is properly decoded from the front.  However, this also means that I have to recalibrate the XT32 in that configuration, as there is no "memory" feature to save the previous configuration.  If they are going to make me change speaker connections, I think adding a memory function for the XT32 would have been nice in case you choose to switch back and forth depending on material.

Nothing seems that great to me to upgrade. I want to know more about the picture in picture feature though.

Onkyo Brings Picture-in-Picture Source Previews
to 2012 Receivers

Picture-in-picture isn't a new feature in and of itself. It's something that's been offered for a while and it makes TV viewing a much improved experience for some folks. Onkyo's new receivers will be offering something similar but much more interesting.

With their 2012 line of receivers you'll be able to use a feature called InstaPrevue to bring up a picture-in-picture view of any of your HDMI or MHL inputs. It's a nice addition that will certainly have a few really worthwhile uses.

The other new addition to Onkyo's receivers is MHL compatibility. MHL is the high def output used most often with phones and tablets and usually requires a converter to get to your TV.

Thanks

View TV and PC side by side on screen would be GREAT! I hope some demos of the new features will be released.

Not yet. Just checked Vann, 1onecall and the others, and the price is still the same. It would be nice if the price dropped another $100 or so.

It just may since the new AVRs are coming out. Give it another month.

I couldnt wait and needed to spend the 1500.

Does the cooling fan lie flat or is it at an angle? Don't you need it to lie flat.

I don't know.
Got that link from another poster in this thread.

One thing I don't understand, with the heat the 3009 generates.
Why didn't Onkyo, place a couple of fans underneath the 3009, like they did for the 818 models? confused.gif
post #176 of 902
so apparently there is a new update for our 3009 recievers on their website.

The 7/5/2012 update addresses the following:
1. Improves the operation when HDMI Through is set to on
2. Stabilizes the operation of Network Control
3. Corrects the video output when the Picture Mode is set to Through

not to much but i go to download the update and the zip file is called ONKAVR000A_HAHAHAHA00HA_108.zip

Im not sure why they they had to call it that, seems a little fishy from a legit website. What do you think?

How do you disable the 3009's listening modes like THX cinema?

I just want to output strait Dolby true HD (source)> dolby True HD(output)
same for LPCM>LPCM

Is it the direct mode on the receiver?
press your Movie/TV button on the bottom of your remote just above the numbers until you see Dolby True HD. You can also go into your menu under listening mode preset and select a straight decode as default . Read the manual, it is your friend.

What is the power rating for driving 5 ch from this AVR? I know 2 ch driven is 140 watts.

The 818 doesn't do video processing for both HDMI outputs? The 3009 does video processing for both? I would really like this feature since I have a LED TV and a projector in the same room. Btw, both of my displays have the same resolution and take the same video signals. Thanks for any help.
