Hello,

I bought this portable blu ray drive to work with my eeePC notebook but the player cannot handle blu-ray movies (non-3d).

I saw a picture, in the instruction manual where the external blu ray drive can connect directly to the TV, unfortunately the tv does not have a USB cable input...it only has HDMI, RGB, s-video (i think) and VGA (i think it's that name). The device only has a USB output.

So two questions:
1) does anyone have experience with this and can verify it will work to plug the drive directly to the TV?

2) Does someone know where I can get a cable adapter to convert the USB output to an HDMI output or possibly the VGA

1) The drive can be connected to a TV's USB jack(s) only if the TV supports media playing from USB inputs. This type of media playing will only be from data files on discs, and NOT actual Blu-ray movies. You will need to read the manual(s) of any TVs you want to use this way for the details. Also, likely you would need to use an external power adapter on the Samsung drive in addition to the USB cable rather than trying to have the TV power the drive directly.

2) There is no such cable available. The "adapter" to go from a USB Blu-ray drive input to an HDMI output is "a computer with Blu-ray-playing software and powerful enough video circuitry to support Blu-ray movies". That last part about the video circuitry is the issue with your EeePC. A more powerful laptop, even some other netbook-type machines (such as my Acer Revo R3610), will be able to play Blu-ray movies.
