Help for a noob3d?

Hi, I bought an LG 47lw5600 3d television about 3 weeks ago. I bought it based on price and the quality of the 2d screen and 3d was basically a toss in for me.

Fast forward to today when I decided I wanted to try to watch a 3d blu ray. Of course there a problems! Why wouldn't there be?

My setup:
LG 47lw5600 passive 3d set
ps3 for blu ray
Denon 1610

Now, I am fully aware that the ps3 doesn't do HD audio and 3d at the same time and that the Denon is an HDMI 1.3 and can't handle much 3d passthrough. That didn't stop me from trying of course!

My DirecTV has to go straight to the tv with audio going to the Denon because the 3d channels (that I rarely watch, goodness, when are they going to show some content that is any good?) won't pass through the Denon. Ok, but the ps3 3d downloadable free 3d shorts from psn WILL pass through.

I try the Captain America 3d disc and it blips in and out once it gets to the menu screen. So, then I connect the HDMI to the tv from the ps3 with just using the tv speakers for audio. I can get video (boy does it look good, I sort of wish I had the money to have bought an active 3d set!) but only some of the audio track comes through. I switched scenes and strangely some dialogue came through, switched again and just background music...I don't have an optical cable at the moment to try that directly to the Denon but I am thinking that the Captain America 3d disc contains ONLY the DTS HDmaster audio in english. (now that I think of it, why didn't I try one of the other languages in DD?)

SO, in essence, will the tv not decode the HD audio correctly and by the same token I don't believe the Denon will either (through optical).

What are my option OTHER than upgrading the Denon? DO I have any options? Hell I bought the tv with the 3d as a bonus, not a necessary feature, but now that I have it I'd like to use it!

Thanks for any help in the matter....if all else fails, I have a perfectly good Denon 1610 for sale soon!

UPDATE:

I connected an optical to the Denon (HDMI to tv directly) and was able to get a DTS stream...It didn't sound too great honestly but it was surround.

I have another question, am I going to have a similar issues with 3d gaming? I am interested in Arkham City and Uncharted 3 and their 3d ability.

The other option is buy a Panasonic 310 bluray player that has dual HDMI outs. One HDMI goes to the reciever and the other to the TV. You get a copy of Avatar that you can sell on EBAY for $100 making the purchase price of the player around $50.

Hm. Hadn't known these types of blu ray players exist.
