Unfortunately, 3 channel amps aren't very common.

You can buy a combo of 2 channel and monoblock.

Outlaw audio sells many 5 and 7 channel amps at a reasonable price. Their lower end models are smaller than the emotiva, but not as powerful.

As you're obviously aware, you can buy used from ebay or audiogon, but buyer beware. I've read many stories of sellers exagerrating the condition of their wares.

Check out the Rotel RB 993. 200 watts x 3. I use to have one and it is a good amp. There is one for sale on Ebay. The guy is asking $600 for it.

I've been looking around for one as well. My needs are a little different than yours as I would really only want it to take strain off my avr since my lcr are 4ohm nominal loads. These are some of the ones I've found looking around in no particular order.

ATI 1506(actually a 6 channel amp that can bridge to 3 channel amp)
Adcom 5503
Acurus 200x3
Aragon 8008x3

Just noticed that they all start with 'a'(kinda funny). There are others but I removed the ones that I know off hand are too large or expensive for your needs.

Also, since I'm gonna try to move my equipment to a closet I'm considering using two 2channel pro amps. Not sure if this is something you're interested in but I thought it was worth mentioning since it's impossible to beat them as far as watts/$ goes. Best of luck with your search.

Just out of curiosity, what speakers do you have that requires an external amp to drive?

Edit: Whoops. Guess I should read the whole thing before I hit reply. For your speakers, I wouldn't expect much(if any) benefit with a 200w amp over an avr, but if you just want to take some strain off your avr then I get it.

Why not look at the EMOTIVA XPA3?

No, but the Acurus 3-ch amps show up on Agon pretty often, sometimes at pretty good pricing if you keep your eyes open. They're solid amps.
