My chairs came today! They were scheduled for a Monday delivery but came in one business day early (Friday). I happen to be home on Fridays, so this worked out perfect. In total, it took exactly one week from placing the order and paying to delivery.
For those wondering about delivery, here is what showed up at my house, but by some other accounts, it may be a smaller truck.
They were tough to carry up the stairs, but my wife and I both carried one chair at a time and got it done okay. Here they are all set up.
We're still in the process of building, so use your imagination for where the 120" fixed screen will go. Also, I've been holding off on building the riser until the chairs came in. It's going to have to be pretty tall, but there will be one for the second row.
I'm a big technology and mobile phone nerd so I was excited about the built-in USB chargers. I hadn't seen this mentioned before, so I thought I'd share that they are 2 amp chargers, which is a high-rate charger that most tablets and large phones require. There's also only one pic of these in the Jive thread so here are a few more for those interested. My only complaint (and it's a small one) is that the little sliding door is pretty cheap feeling. It slides with hardly any effort and doesn't lock in position open or closed. If there was some kind of detent in each position, that would help.
I am very happy with these chairs. I went with the leather after seeing them in person. We were considering going bonded before that, but the leather is so soft that it changed our minds. The swatches also helped, and I'd recommend asking about them for anyone considering purchasing these chairs. There's nothing wrong with the bonded material, but to my wife and I, the leather just felt better.
We also ordered brown which shows up in the pictures, but I should note that in person, the chairs look black in our room, with maybe the slightest red tint. This is really important for anyone considering brown, because with most home theaters dimly lit a lot of the time, they do look black. The bonded brown is lighter than the leather, but still a pretty dark brown. In the pictures, I think my camera was compensating for the lighting so they look more brown than they do in real life.
The chairs went together okay, but two of the chair backs needed to have the tabs adjusted that lock in to the bottom. There's no leather squeaking sounds when reclining. There's enough head support that my eyes stay looking at the (would be) screen while reclined.
I'm an electrical engineer, so I was also curious about the power usage. I noticed each chair has a 24 Vdc power converter to power the reclining motor. The converter is essentially "on" all the time, but I'm happy to say it's pretty negligible. All six of my chairs together draw 4 W without doing anything, which equates to $0.01 per day with my electric rates. Chairs consume around 60 W feet going up/reclining, and 30 W feet going down/sitting up (this will be proportional to how much you weigh). About inline with a normal light bulb, and I only bring this up because someone asked earlier in this thread if the chairs needed a lot of power.
I hope this helps anyone with their decisions! They are very nice chairs; much better than what we looked at in Best Buy, Ashley Furniture, and Rooms To Go. Can't wait to get the rest of the room finished so we can start watching movies and TV up there.
