I would really like to see a shootout actually held up here somewhere in the Toronto / Durham / Southern Ontario area....but, if not, or while we wait, if there are shootout reviews by online publications, or shootouts by others elsewhere in the US and Canada, please share the results.

I think you are most likely a month or two early here.

Yeah, I guess that is true for regular folks for sure. For now I will wait for more reviews of both, and hopefully some more comparisons, and I'll follow the RS45 vs AE7000 thread

As soon as I get the RS-45, going to compare it to a DLP for a reference.

I have seen both projectors in action and compared side by side. The JVC is far superior to the Panasonic AE7000 in all respects. PM me if you want to see the X30 and the AE7000. And I was the biggest AE7000 fan before I saw the X30...

There is just simply no comparison between LCOS technology vs LCD.

You just threw chum in the water! lol
Thanks for the insight, it just makes my wait more painful.

Hmmmm, I was just about to ask how the AE7000 compares to the RS40 for now, since the RS45 isn't out yet for most people to view.

Do you guys know if you can use the same 3D glasses with Panasonic plasma TV's as with the AE7000, or any of the JVC projectors?

I don't think this dilemma is going to change this year. So it seems that each one has their plus this year and there isn't necessarily a clear winner. Decisions, decisions.

All Panasonic glasses that work with the plasma sets will work with the new 7000. I'm not sure about how or if they will function with the JVC projectors but I would love to know as I have a few pairs of generation 1,2,and 3 glasses.

That's good to know. I will have one or two Panasonic plasma TV's in my house for a while before getting a projector. So if I got a JVC RS 45 instead of the AE7000, it would be really stupid to have to buy different glasses for the projector. If the glasses were incompatible between Panasonic TV's and JVC's RS 45 etc, I would almost say it would make sense only have glasses for the PJ.

I know what you mean. I'm one of those trying to decide between the 7000 and the 45. Having a few pairs of the Panny glasses already at home puts a few points in the Panny column. The tough part is I used to have a Panny 4000 and upgraded to a JVC HD-250 after I saw a friends RS-15. A definite step up from the 4000. I don't want to take a step backwards in 2D quality so I'm trying to determine if the 7000 will be close.
I know a lot of forum members don't care about 3D but I have quite a few 3D titles that I enjoy now with my Panny plasma and hope a new 7000 or 45 will add to the experience on a larger scale.
With the AVS pre-order special price making the JVC a little cheaper than the 7000, it's a tough call.

Panasonic 3D shutter glasses do not work with JVC projectors. There are some 3rd party universal glasses (from Xpand and Monster) that should work with both the Panasonic 3DTVs and the JVC projectors. However, be aware that the Panasonic glasses and the universal glasses have the orientation of their polarizing element (inherently part of the liquid crystal lens) rotated 90 degrees from the polarized light coming from the JVC projectors and for the JVC 3D glasses. Therefore, you would need to use a projection screen that retains little or no polarization. More info can be found in the thread on Screens for 3D Projection.

Gotcha. I recall the polarization discussion. Too bad the Panasonic glasses don't work with JVC projectors. I'll keep myself open to using the xpand or other third party glasses. IIRC, it's often the proprietary glasses that work best with each display.

Thanks again Ron. Much appreciated. Just checked out your thread again.

I just bought a Panny 60ST30 so now I have to decide on glasses. It seems that there are many good screens, and many good screen materials that have less than 1 on the scale of yours. Carada Bright White, Da-lite matte white and the high power screens etc. Now I have to decide whether I get Panasonic glasses or not.

You must have watched a mis-calibrated 7000, because any LCOS pj can't be "far superior" to the 7000. It's just not possible to get that much better of a picture than what the Panny displays, sans a 4K unit. I've seen them together as well and that's why I chose the 7000.
