High Resolution Audio on HD-A1

Does anyone know if the Toshiba HD-A1 can play high resolution audio(24/192khz) in both cd form (physical disc) or via Flac or Wav files from a thumb drive or any other method of delivery? The manual claims 24/192 capable playback from all channels/inputs.

I don't believe the USB ports on any model HD-DVD player were ever activated or functional for anything.

Almost true ... I am able to charge my cell phone off the USB ports on my A2 and A30!

how about physical media high resolution discs?

Not DVD-Audio or SACDs. I've heard the Oppo Blu-Ray players can play them, and the latest Sony Blu-Ray players can play SACDs (though good luck finding many SACDs to listen to on them.)

Thanks for the responses, I might just have to buy a disc (around $50.00 retail!) and try it out.

if you're talking SACD you could always get the 30th anniversary edition of dark side of the moon on a hybrid sacd for less than $15

as far as high resolution audio you could look into DAD and HDAD discs (DAD is another way of saying DVD-V with 24/96 stereo PCM... HDAD being a flipper disc with 24/192 DVD-A on the other side but your HD-A1 will not play the DVD-A side of such a disc)

the only way to get 24/192 on the HD-A1 is if there are any HD-DVD discs with 24/192 audio
