I bought mine back in April, and have never noticed FBR. My recommendation is NOT to look for it. No, firmware upgrades did not resolve it (you would need an A board swap, but again, if you don't see it, don't worry -- some VT30 displays are more prone to FBR than others).

I got the 50GT30 two days ago, is it normal that they(sears) still have one from March? Did the newer builds resolve this particular issue? Thanks.

like bill said, if you dont see any problems you may not have any problems.

if you search you will find many detailed threads and posts here about this issue:

I just watched a movie and I DO SEE it now. lol After reading that thread I also remembered the CATS was set to off. So the question now is: do I return the GT30 and see if they have a more recently built model that is patched or have mine fixed?

Would someone mind giving me answers on my first post in this thread? Thanks.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

HAPPY NEW YEAR

It's the luck of the draw, really... I just had a 50" delivered from Hhgregg on Wednesday with an April build. It seems to exhibit slight Fbr. Given that they were out of stock and I had similar odds of getting an older build from someone else (except, perhaps, Panasonic), I opted to keep the set since it was a) here, and b) free of any other obvious issues.

I called Panasonic, they acknowledged the issue, and are sending a tech to my home on Thursday.

While YMMV, I'd keep it and have Panasonic fix it -- assuming you are otherwise happy with it.

I would guess that higher volume stores are less likely to have old stock. Received my 65vt30 a week ago from Amazon, and it is October build with the updated EEPROM.

I bought a 65ST30 and I am running the slides now. There is one particular issue as far as I can see. The white slide does not look like white. It's almost gray. Is this expected due to the picture settings D-nice provided?

Full screen white is dimmer on plasmas. Completely normal.

So that's the brightest white I'll ever see or it's the case only for full screen?

Thanks a lot D-Nice. I have one more question. I fail to see those green/pink blobs in the slides. I looked at the dark and white slides but I cannot see them. Are all Panasonic plasmas affected by this issue or should I assume that I got a good set? The picture uniformity looks great compared to LCDs.

It does not affect all sets

low panel brightness and color temp warm2 shows the problem most if you have it.

I'll wait until the slides are done and will check it that way. I still have until the end of January to return this TV.

I wanted to find different calibrations what will make the picture really stand out. I have a few questions after reading D-Nice's thread about using the slides for 100hrs before you start calibrating:

Before I found this site, I used the settings from the plasma tv buying guide for the GT30. I can't post the link so here it is:

Picture Mode: Custom
Contrast: 70
Brightness: 60
Color: 48
Sharpness: 10
Tint: 0
Color Temp: Warm 2
CATS: Off
Mosquito NR: Off
Motion Smoother: Off
Black Level: Light
24P Direct in: 60Hz
In Pro Settings Menu (White Balance)
W/B high R +16
W/B high G 0
W/B high B +16
W/B low R +7
W/B low G 0
W/B low B +4

Used not more than an hour or two, and I'm worried if I made a mistake playing around with the custom calibration settings before 100 hrs. Did I cause any type of "damage" with those settings?

My next question is can the slides be run AFTER the tv has been used? So far it's been around 20 hrs. If not, can D-Nice's settings be used without any risks?

I apologize in advance for the noob questions but greatly appreciate any help. This is my first Plasma and really value it a lot.

Thank you.

D-Nice, do you mind taking a look at my questions? Thank you. btw I changed the custom settings to 50s on brightness and contrast.

From what I understand, you can always use his settings however if you did not follow the instructions completely (like not running the slides for the first 20 hours), your picture will not be the same as the reference picture d-nice calibrated in his reference TV. It's not the end of the world.

The wife gave me a TC-P5032C for Xmas. These Pannys are sold at Target, any issues with this model?
I have an LJ S/N with October build and 84.46 EPROM. Pink on the sides with gray slides. Notice on gray slides slight horizontal bands with a darker line running in the middle. The pink shows up when there is high white content like sky scenes. Also have experienced problems with random power cycling 5 times last month. It occurs most when playing back either WDTV or DLNA. Last time I was watching DLNA content and it powered off and back on which makes no sense that a DLNA source would force the TV to power cycle. It has power cycled during OTA and MCE recordings as well. I think this one is going back to Amazon.
D-nice- quick question. Are you planning on any settings for the LJ build or does one of the others work? Appreciate all the info you've posted already...

Submitted without full details: LJ (Oct 11 build) of the 65VT30

I got a 65VT30 arriving this week. Just been reading about all these green/pink uniformity issues, makes me sad I haven't read about that many cases of it happening with Australian models, mainly US and Europe. Hopefully I get a good one!

In other matters, does anyone foresee any issues in running the break-in slides (with D-Nice's break-in settings) on an Australian 65VT30?

I have a gt30 and wanted to know, if I do not follow the "SM Access Instructions", am i losing out on a significant diff in calibration settings?
Is there any benefit/negative in continuing the slides past 100 hours?

Looks like the space where the 65VT30 is going to be mounted wont complete for another week which could put me around 250+ hours of slides if I continued them.

D-nice:
I wanted to thank you. The TV looks spectacular after tuning in your settings.

As I posted in the VT30 thread people may want to be aware that running the slides on 55VT30 with the recommended settings is consuming about 480 Watts - probably not a big deal for most if you only run them for 100 hours - although I do wonder what a 65VT30 consumes running the slides.

However as I found out last night my UPS battery side is spec'd at 330 Watts. It must have run its bi-weekly self test during the night and woke both my wife and I with its continous beep......Frightened the hell out of me as I thought at first it was the TV making the noise!

Anyway it is now plugged into the 'surge only' output which doesn't have the 330 Watt limit.

The UPS has served me well with previous LCD and DLP TVs - I guess I should have checked but I didn't think about the power output spec for the battery side. Normally I just need the UPS to run everything for 30 seconds until our back up generator kicks in (yes thanks to PGE I need a back up generator where I live....)

D-Nice, just wanted to say thank you for your efforts and helping us get close to an actual professional calibration out of our sets.
