Sony HMZ-T1 HMD Owner's dedicated thread - Page 82

^Thanks for the video. Seeing how little the actual active visual element weighs was most interesting.

I think their IPD gear mechanism is overly bulky and un-necessary (completely so if to be used by only one user who could set it once with a screw driver, in a light weight , alternative friction sled).

Hello, I just got mine today and please go easy on me if this has been answered already I gave a good faith effort to search this thread and Google. 0

Does anyone else notice a green line border framing the edges of the screen, particularly in bright colored scenes? If the screen is showing something mostly black, it's practically not visible, but in a bright white or blue image filling the screen, it's like there's a picture frame around it, with black negative space between the screen and this green border I'm referring to. It's rather thick and once noticed is hard to ignore. It looks cheap and takes away much of the magic for me.

does it happen in a movies?
i guess it's just the way video file is saved.. try to resize it (crop)

if u have perfect focus then u wont see the borderline and suggest adjust your lense to get a good focus.

to all of those who want to play in a even more immersive way..
there is one feature that i really miss on pc gaming - vibration like in ps3 or x360 pad.. no keyboard and mouse has been ever made with vibration, and even if - i don't know if there is any game that support it. such a shame..
but there is a way to use vibration! simply plug in (or connect wirelessly) your xbox 360 pad and start game.. some games will let you play using pad or mouse and keyboard at the same time.. what you have to do? just put pad on your legs, or attach is somehow to your body.. like in bf3, whenever you get shot, or you are shooting - u will feel vibrations. i find this a nice little feature that helps gaming! try it out.

Will it work on a non-3D laptop with ATI card?

not with 3dTVPlay . . that is made by NVIDIA it would be stupid to support AMD . .
I finaly got mine yesterday and I hooked it up to my laptop which has a gtx 460m and 3dtv play installed with the newest update for the hmz. I also have a bluray drive so I went out and rented a 3d bluray and I'm having problems. I own cyberlink powerdvd 12, which is the latest one and supports Ed blurays. I already activated the 3d in nvidia control panel and when I play the bluray and click on the player's 3d button the 3d works great except it goes black and comes back again every minute or so, sometimes even more, sometimes less, every time the hmz says "3d signal detected" and I already tried changing some settings but it doesn't seem to work. I lowered the depth back to 15%, which is the default depth and I also modified some settings in the cyber link player and it seem to get better but Im not sure.

I then preceded to download total media theater, they have a 14 day trial and it worked flawlessly with that one. My problem is that I already purchased powerdvd so it would be better to make it work with that one...downloading a cracked version is not an option for me in that specific computer for other reasons, so I'm stuck with what I bought. Any ideas?

ask powerdvd for support?
tell them that total media theater is working.

darthbeavis - any more details about the mod? how's the comfort, visibility, distraction from light?

Why this guy has that led light on? You have knowledge to break hmz small parts, but you don't know how to use setup?
But seriously, that's quite interesting mod, but I think weight (about 250g) is still on front side of your head. That can be problem on long-therm use.

Ps. and in my opinion there should be something to cover sides, light can be real prob there.

I notice glare only on left eye (upper side of the lense). Try to clean the lens using soft cloth, but still there. Looks like dust but in the inner lens.

I just did that I hope it helps, so annoying that I went on and purchased the software without downloading the trial first, probably my blind fight on their software for past experiences. I sent them an email explaining what happened and asking for a refund.

have no probs with PowerDVD-12 and HMZ-T1 now. Uninstalled Nvidia driver completely then installed the latest one from scratch. Upgraded only created problems when I did it first. By the way Power DVD-11 works without probs as well and even more stable but you can't change 3d depth in Power DVD-11 with HMZ-T1.

After switching the setting in powerdvd from autodetect to specifically HDMI 1.4 720p. It seems like it doesn't do it anymore....I am going to test it out right now I'm gona watch the 3d bluray of underworld awakening.. Too bad I heard it sucks but hey... Kate Beckinsale in 3D.....

Does it really matter that your powerdvd11 doesn't have 3d depth adjustment? If you are using an nvidia card you can adjust depth from the control panel. Do you recon one is better than the other?

Why would I turn the light off it looks cool

This is temporary until I install the unit in my Daft Punk helmet. The weight now is still too heavy but I can add a counter-weight easily. I will do so on the helmet and will have the inside of it coated black

Already uninstalled Nvidia driver completely, update the new one, but still no option for enabling stereoscopic on Nvidia control panel

Using Lenovo Y570 - GT555m

well, this is weird. my Qosmio Toshiba with GT560M has 3d display and came with NVIDIA active glasses so i can always enable 3D option in Nvidia control panel even if i have no HMZ-T1 or other 3D display attached via HDMI. Do you have 3d TV or 3d monitor to check?

I think that the absence of the 3d depth adjustment in power dvd11 really does not matter. power dvd12 does have some small bonus features i like but nothing in terms of better 3d performance on HMZ-T1

Well I watched the movie, halfway though it the same thing started happening again, it goes black and then comes back on and the device says "3d signal detected" each time it comes back. Not sure what the problem is. I ended up watching the last 30 min or so of the movie with total media theater and that one worked fine and the 3d seems just as good as powerdvd

I was watching Avatar 3D 10 min ago - original Panasonic disk - superb both on Power DVD11 and 12! No probs at all. HDMI playback control via HMZ-T1 control wheel on the glasses is very helpful. I have no clue what is wrong with your Power DVD but if Total MT works well it not hardware related problem.

Dear HMZ-T1 owners - anyone interested in selling me their original light blockers? I figure most people have modded theirs here, and prob don't need the plastic parts anymore. I figure a good offer is $10 shipped paypal? LMK. thanks!

I will send you my stuff for free if you pay shipping. I am in Oregon

Keep in mind I cut part of it off to use as a bracket but most of it is intact

Don't have 3D TV or 3D monitor to check

I think this happened because of no USB emitter for 3Dvision was plugged.

I wonder what it could be tough, it sucks because i wanted to use powerdvd not total media but I honesty doubt there is any difference worth talking about.
Well I called them and I got my refund, normaly I am the kind of guy that goes through the troubleshooting until the issue is fixed but this time around I just wasn't feeling like going through so much with powerdvd when total media theater was working fine.

The refund process went quickly, so thats good.

I honestly like powerdvd a bit better as far as looks go and I like those extra things that I would never use like the powerdvd remote with my android phone, which is useless since i already use a wireless handheld keyboard but whatevar, im stupid like that.

Anyway, yeah I guess im sticking with totalmedia theater, I have to say, Im really, really, REALLY happy with the HMZ-T1.. seriously, if sony hadn't come up with those, I wouldn't be able to enjoy 3D movies until a few years when I change tv and get a 3D one.
