Sorry are you trying to describe port noise or the sub moving air and pressurizing your room?
I can assure you that a XS30 can pressurize your room. You should send Reefdvr27 a pm, he's had a XS30 and returned it for a XV30 I believe and now has dual XV30's from what I remember.

I am still just down to the bare question. maybe someone here has a single V30 and around the same room measurements that I have. if so that person can let me know how much slam and shake they experience. much thanks to all that have chimed in, I am learning more.

See im the opposite, i dont want to hear port noise. a sealed sub will always have the flattest response. To be honest I went with Toms advice and rolled with it. I can always ship it back, but I got a feeling thats not going to happen.

does it also matter that I am trying to match up the low end with my towers. which I will be employing four RTI A9's and CSI A9 center channel? receiver is onkyo tx-nr818 and a sherbourn 5 channel amp. would this be a nice "blend" ?

well my setup is slightly smaller. im running RTI-A7 bi-amped and a CSI-A4 center. the A9 offers no more lower extension than the 7, so I would still say get the XS-30 but Tom will know best. wait to hear back from him.
actually I made a mistake that was meant to be CSI A6 center. I am quite sure that Toms response (sorry lack of sleep from 2 jobs, and dealing with my cat dying I am forgetting stuff) was for me to go with dual XV15's. my hope was just to hear from people that have experienced firsthand these subs. I will take jbrown's advice and PM that one member.

Sorry you're trying match the low end of your towers? Your towers will never match the low end of a PSA sub.

If your choice is two XV15's or a single XV30, I personally still think you're better off going with dual XV15's. Now if you're possibly thinking about going with dual XS30's instead then yes 100% do that.

The XV15 has a very small advantage over a XS30 from about 30hz down to 18hz of maybe 1db, which certainly wouldn't really be noticeable. But below that the XS30 would have an output advantage and above 30Hz you would need roughly two XV15's to equal one XS30.

If you're looking for that "slam" bass, that happens in middle bass so above 30hz. That is where a XS30 really excels.

i had a talk with my uncle last night ( easter party ) hes musician , and i was talking to him about the bass that punch u in the chest ( like in explosion or things like that ) he sais its pretty much the same as a Drum's bassdrum.. and it was auround 120hz , so i started to wonder why we always put 80hz crossover if its auround 120hz !? we pretty much want the sub to deal with that bass and not the other drivers .. sry a bit off topic but your post made me think at that .
I'm planning to order an XS30 in another month or so, and I've been wondering if any of the XS30 owners here are using a higher crossover (higher than 80Hz) to take advantage of the XS30's prowess in the mid-bass region.

I'll have to experiment, of course, to see what works best with my gear, in my room. My mains are Paradigm Studio 40 v4, powered by an Emotiva XPA-5, and I get pretty good mid-bass slam from them already.

Still, I'm curious to hear what the XS30 owners have to say on the subject.

That thump in your chest from your sub isn't happening up at 120hz. it will most likely be strongest from 50-80hz.

When I first got my XS30's I had them crossed at 150hz, but as I started to play more movies threw them I've settled at around 110hz. They seem to be working really well in my system crossed right around there, of course when I great my new main speakers I'll try a few other things to see how the whole thing sounds.
What mains are you running now, and what will you be replacing them with?
I'm currently running my dual XS15s (positioned up front) at 110hz.

Right now I'm just using some older JBL Northridge E80 towers and EC35 center channel that I've had for about 8 years. Funny enough they actually sound pretty good for what they are. And I'm replacing them with JTR Noesis 228HT speakers, which will be a massive step up in every way.

Thanks for the info, guys. I'll definitely have to experiment with higher crossovers when it comes time to get mine dialed-in.

I have dual XS-30's and have them crossed at 120. I have Golden Ear SuperSat 50's. I haven't tried them at 150, maybe an experiment down the road.

Joy today! My XS15 just arrived (ordered Feb 18 just at the start of the PSA dry spell). Dialing her in now... my first sub!

I'd love to hear your thoughts on how that combination sounds for music.

Signature required -- a good excuse to "work from home" today smile.gif

The box does have the PSA logo and name on it so its fairly obvious that its audio hardware of some sort.

Yes, I was patient but its my wife that deserves the kudos for putting up with my relaying the updates to her on the various shipping delays wink.gif

That was me, returned the XS30 for the XV30. Anyways buxfan I wrote a review awhile back for the XV30 and made some comments about the two, XV30 and the XS30.

And, yes, it was well worth the wait! Not only does it sound awesome (Skyfall and some music samples so far) -- but it looks like it will indeed be as toddler proof as they come smile.gif

The finish is very toddler proof too. I two year old daughter loves to run over and touch the subs because she knows I have to get out of my chair and tell her not to touch! Lol

It's funny that a lot of non PSA owners always bring up the finish as a negative, but I really like the finish and it seems to blind into a room perfectly and hardly calls any attention to itself unless you have some bass pounding threw it of course.

My living room (new house) is still quite sparse so no matter what the finish it doesn't blend well with the wife approved empty space (ha!). I do like the finish and I'm happy to hear its held up well for you.

Since the back of the sub will not be blocked off by furniture/etc, I plan to install a fine mesh cage on the back to limit access to the knobs. I'm thinking that I can replace a few of the amp screws with slightly longer ones to support the cage. Once I'm sure that I am keeping it for sure, then I'll start exploring how to do this.
