Hey, everybody. This is probably a question for Tom, but I thought I'd post it here, as the XS30 owners may be able to answer it as well.

I'm planning to buy an XS30 next month. It will be going into a carpeted room. I was wondering if there would be any harm in removing the rubber feet so that I can slide it around on the carpeted floor.

Has anyone done this?

Just get some pads that are designed for placing under furniture that needs to be moved. I plan on doing this when it comes time to experiment placement. One word of caution that Tom has mentioned a few times, don't plan on moving the subs with the grills on. I see why he says this now that I have the. The feet are small and the grill will drag in the carpet, which will cause the pegs to snap if pushed against. I placed my grills on after getting in my initial place, but will be removing them when it is time to move them around.

Congrats!

But my prior post I was just stating the size of the cabinet. Nothing about the sound. Truth be told Tom recommended me the XS30 and that was the one I went with. After having it for a week or so I came to the conclusion that it wasn't what I was looking for. So I returned it and bought the XV30 and now am 100% happy.

It really boils down to what YOU like.

Hey, Smoken. I re-read your review of the XV30 the other day. Love the part where you sum it all up by saying, "This sub scares the s**t out of me!"

I can't wait to join the PSA owners' club!

Good suggestion!

I was aware of warning about the grills, but thanks for the reminder. That's something that could easily be forgotten in one's excitement and haste to get the new toy set up!

I have had about 1hr to run some sweeps, so I did test the wireless vs wired for the Outlaw OAW3. I'm sure the rocketfish would measure differently, so I'm not sure if this will help you much. See my post in this thread for my results:

I can tell I will be needing to move these subs around, I'm in a terrible 22hz null. I will need to wait for another day to fix that.

Here is what REW is giving me before and after Antimode:

yea i wanted to initially go with the xs30, but after further resesrch i dont think one will be enough and my budget wont allow 2...so the next best thing was 2 xv15's. my a7's have plenty of midbass, so im pretty sure the xv15's will pick up where the a7's drop off and ill end up with a smoother bass response from 20-100hz. basically i dont want a plethora of midbass and a huge drop below 30hz. thats what i was getting with my dual psw505's. now i know the xs30 is in a whole different league than the 505's, but after reading your review i feel the dual xv15's fit the bill. especially with the huge 6ft opening in my room im going to need 2 subs to smooth the bass out and fill nulls. next order is measuring mic and rew!

Careful now....I recently got dual XS15s and got in to REW....I now want more. wink.gif

This brings up a question I have:

Here's my situation - I currently have 2 XS15s up front, next to my FL/R speakers (REW says this is best placement), with an older (circa 1995) Velodyne F1500 sitting directly behind my chair (crossed at 60hz) that I want to replace with a PSA so that they all match (and the Velo has a questionable amount of life left in it).

I absolutely LOVE the rumble that the Velo gives me with this extreme near-field placement, but my wife's chair is getting none of this extra rumble. Her seat is also in a null for the current XS15s - just not much bass in her chair at all. The couch sounds just as good as my chair (where she usually sits when watching movies), but with a little less rumble.

My thought is either 2 XS15s (1 behind each chair) or 1 XS30 (placed between our chairs, replacing an end table)....or maybe even the 2 XS15s, but one in each back corner (if the extreme nearfield is too much with the PSAs).

Thoughts?

However it will be a while before it reaches me cos I need to tranship it to Singapore.
I think I'll be the first to own one here.

This is my first ever purchase of an audio equipment from the USA and it's a massive monster!
Decision made easy by Tom's excellent service.

Can't wait..biggrin.gif

Congrats! Shipping a long ways. Jim told me they shipped a XV15 I think to Australia a while back. Good to see getting some global support smile.gif

Just get those furniture pads like ndksurfer said. Else you can just use a blanket and pull it, this is what I do. Also with grills off. I still haven't put my grills on and I've had them for almost a month.

I hope your exam went well! E7 is a big deal for navy. Killer picture and review, late responding as I just discovered this company and am slogging my way through the thread.

does 1 XS15 is comparable to a f15hp !?? i know the f15hp have 100watts more but often the watts are not a good reference .
