I think with a room that is that acoustically challenged 2 subs may not fit the bill...you might consider starting with 2 single 15's and adding a third if need be. the part thats hard to determine is if sealed will work well for this application.

Your reading my mind bh biggrin.gif I was just going to ask if you guys would recommend one double or two singles. I'm thinking two singles, but as far as ported or sealed I'm not sure. They would be placed near the front wall next to the left and right fronts. But there is a hallway to the right and rear of my RF speaker. The mains are new Revel F52's that have rear ports.

Thanks

there is no performance difference, only asthetics...I personally like the base and would pay the extra 50.00

what is the ratio of source content(movies/music) you will be primarily listening too?
If the room was sealed I would probably go with xs15's, however being its open on both ends, I think ported would be best. Again contact Tom and see what he thinks!

I probably listen to 70% music 30% movies. I think ported also but will contact them. Thanks for the help.

^^^How low do you want to go? If you are chasing single digit bass then sealed (in multiples) is the only reasonable way to get there. If you are shooting for a low end around 15 Hz, then either a pair of XV15's or XV30's would be my preferred option. Different tools for different jobs. In 3,000 cu ft space its tough to predict if you will get sufficient Pressure Volume Gain to offset the earlier rolloff of sealed subs vice the ported.

I agree with basshead81, asking Tom for advice is the best option. He recommended ported for my 5,000 cu ft basement.

To get single digit response that is really strong you would need 1 or 2 Triax's or 2-4 of XS30's with a lot of PVG and maybe corner loading.

I want to go as low as I can, that said my room is also a living room so I have limited space. I have room for two decent sized subs. I would think two single 15's is the way I want to go, at least for now. I will contact support to see if they recommend sealed or ported.

I won't be ready for about a month or so, but I'd like to get two subs for around $2,000. Less wouldn't hurt my feelings. But I would pay more for the right ones.

Hey, I have an XS30 in my living area and its also open to to dining and kitchen area, the sub has no problem filling the room (at least the living area). And the gain is set to 12 oclock (+5 dB ch level).

The sub provides really deeeep bass, the mid bass is there but I still want more biggrin.gif

XS30 is really VFM. The best thing about PSA? Superb customer service smile.gif

Thanks guys for the thanks for posting. As far as it matching the rest of my setup, everything in my HT is black, Jim told me with subdued lighting the expresso almost looks black, so I think it will be perfect in my space, I think after firing it up I will forget all about the finish smile.gif. As far as that breaker tripping, that should not be happening with dual XV30s, if you have 12/3 wire I would swap out the 15 amp breaker with a 20 and add 20 amp receptacle, although the 15 amp outlet should be fine. I had 2 XS30s a 200 watt 3 channel amp and a plasma TV on the same 15 amp circuit with no tripping. I now have two 20 amp dedicated circuits in my HT room, one is for just the Triax, I know it's overkill but it was real easy with my room to run the wire and install outlets. Thanks again guys, I thought seeing an actual expresso without drivers and amp may help some choose which way to go.
Cheers Jeff smile.gif

have you measured to see how deep the xs30 is extending? I would really like to see a in room graph of the xs30.

Just order a xv30f. My fourth PSA sub. Three xv15s and now xv30f. Oh yeah. My wife is going to freak out when she sees this monster.

Its love hate. Boxes suck. Subs are worth it.

They were actually packaged nicely and very easy to unpack. Mine are in my room. Just dialed in the front stage imaging. Hooking rew up now to balance the subs and run some measurements.

Congrats! It seems you are fond of ported subs, that means you will not get a triax? Unless PSA will come out with a ported triax, I just can't imagine how big will that be

Someone remind me why I'm looking for a new sub(s)?

After some REW measurements, bass management and level adjustments, and applying my processor's single PEQ filter to remove a peak centered at 73hz, I tried a few movie scenes to hear the results. Among the scenes was "Darla tapping aquarium" from Finding Nemo. I set the volume to -3.5 which is a bit louder than normal (I'd probably watch this movie at about -6 normally). OMG! The room whole room was shaking! I've watched the movie several times and don't remember this scene being quite like this. I didn't notice any obvious signs of distress from my single SVS 16-46PC+.

How much better can a new sub be? Would I notice a SQ difference? I'm beginning to think the only difference would be how the sub behaves at it's limits. Mine bottoms out (it didn't during the Darla scene though), but a new sub would behave much better.

Like I said, remind me why I'm looking for a new sub?
