Pretty cool that you are going to be rocking dual subs from the get go. Don't forget to post back on your initial impressions.

The room is ~4500^3 with openings to the nook and dining room, so I knew I wouldn't be happy with just one... cool.gif

System is comprised of an Onkyo 818 and Polk (RTi10 fronts, CSi5 center, and RTiA3 rears). Overall, I think it will be a good mix. I am coming from a PSW505, however, this is all going into a new construction that is a bigger space.

Congrats on your new acquisition. After getting the two XV15" dialed in, we eagerly look forward to your first impressions.

Just saying, with 4,500 cu ft to fill, in my opinion, you're not going be happy with just two. Keep your mind open to the addition of a third subwoofer. Maybe a third XV15. For a room that large, a XV30 would be better addition. In my opinion, a room doesn't come alive until a third subwoofer is added. Why? Because it's da law.

(due to room acoustics and smoothing of room modes)

2 xv15's will have plenty of output for most in that size room. The third would to further flatten the response with out heavy eqing, but that all depends on the room response.

I am not opposed to a third, however, I did not want to commit to it without knowing anything about the room response. I close on the house Friday...

I've never known a room to respond the way I wanted a room to respond. How about you? Have you ever met a cooperative room who, from the gate, wanted to play and get along well with your acoustic needs?

All I'm suggestion is, after getting your system dialed in, keep your thinking open to a third or larger third subwoofer.

Have you acquired room measuring capability? If not, take the time to Google "REW" and download a freeware copy. Learn about it. Get it setup and learn to measure your room's acoustical response to your newly acquired subwoofers. Doing so is the "ONLY" way one can see and properly integrate their subwoofer sound reproduction system into their room's acoustics.

Just saying, if one wants the best out of one, two, three or four subwoofers, one "MUST" have room measuring capability. Without room measuring capability, there is not hope.

I really appreciate the feedback. I have a handheld SPL meter and a UMIK-1 to analyze how the room reacts to placement. Fortunately, I have quite a bit of flexibility for placement. The only option not available is that I cannot place them directly behind the seating position, but I do not think that will be an issue...

I think you will be quite happy with your purchase, I bought 2 XV15's from the get-go also and I love them, even though I dont have my room done yet they still shake the whole house. What finish did you get on them?

Today or no later then tomorrow they will post an update with details on how they will be taking care of the situation for us. That shipper is slacking off, i now ive dealt with the same thing from shippers when i order stuff online, its frustrating mad.gif

I have a spot all cleared for the Triax, when I get home I look at the empty corner, imagining it was there, making earthquakes in the neighborhood for all to enjoy! biggrin.gif I know how I can treat my impatience, ill buy more stuff while I wait! Lets see, I already have the denon 4311 ordered, what else should I get? Re-enforce the foundation? I think ill go online and find some more blue-rays to order. Ive gotta find a good place to buy a bunch because I already have everything good from best buy.

No problem, im happy with psa's customer service, its reassuring knowing that they take the time to help advise people of their needs when you call them. Some places you call have a bunch of pricks that have no interest in anything other than getting off work. I feel like im in good hands with PSA. Once this Triax thing kicks off then ill def be thinking about getting a 2nd one.

+1

While we may be anxious to hear news about our Triax orders I don't think any of us here are angry or upset with PSA.
