Man, that's a bummer that the XS-30 came out so soon after I ordered mine. I would have been quite tempted for the $300 difference, but I don't want to go through the cost or hassle of shipping my XS-15 back.

Glad to see it is an option though, it should be a beast!

HI all. So I've made up my mind to buy a PSA sub but need help on deciding. My room is about 2800 cf with about a 38"x 7' opening to the up stairs. My only placement due to furniture, sliding glass door and other small openings to a small computer nook and bathroom and of course WAF, is behind my ent center. The ent center is in the corner so it has corner loading going for it. I was on the website ready to buy the XV15 when I saw the XS30. I use this ent system for 70% movies and 30% music. I am new to the HT world compared to most of you but I want do it right. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Tom is a great help on this kind of thing, I shot him some emails and he got back to me with great information. I have more cf than yours and I'm happy with my xv15. I think the xs30 would give you more of a reference fill, and if it's in your price range, that would be the one I would go with.
So reference fill/level being the upper volume levels? Sorry for the ignorance of the term. With a 3 year old and the wife I don't get to really push my system on many occasions. Not to say they don't arise. I should say I am upgrading from a polk PSW110 which has lumbered along with minimal satisfaction. I recently upgraded my mains to KEF IQ70's and noticed the polk craps out way before they do and the FR is basically the same on the low end for the mains and sub. I guess I'm trying to upgrade proof myself for a while
and just wondered if the XV15 would do the job.
I just read that last post and it obviously sounds crazy. Going from polk POS110 to any PSA is going to be night and day.
Just go to PSA's webpage and email Tom, he'll go over everything with you and give you an honest opinion on what will suit your room best. and give you the pros and cons of each of his subs. Top notch customer service.

Will do. Thanks.

I see once again I waited too long to order and now I am a** out. Maybe some cancellations ??

Basically, "reference level" is a predictable, repeatable volume level standard. The premise is that each full range channel can be required to produce up to 105dB of clean output at your key seating positions. The Subwoofer(s) can be required to produce 118-121dB if you want full reference level playback capability. This information is very useful when trying to determine the "how much" subwoofer(or speaker, or amplifier) you need to meet your performance expectations.

Given your situation and placement options and WAF, I would go with the XV15, you will be very happy, and it will be a night and day diffrence with the Polk;)

Ok, I was finally able to pick up the XS30. Too bad I missed the December cut off date though because that would've been super nice to have it during the week of Christmas while I'm off from work. Now the waiting game....man, I haven't bought a sub with much power and punch before, so I'm definitely feeling like a little kid and very anxious for it's arrival. I want to hear my movies with a bit of slapping in the face and pounding of the chest smile.gif I'll need to re-rent War of the Worlds for sure when I get the sub b/c I've heard the pod sequence was one of the best bass scenes to revisit.

Lastly, thanks to the wifey for being so understanding smile.gif

I know our first impulse is to grab the "wow factor" films for initial demos but don't ignore your favorite music CD or concert DVD/BR. Once you have the XS30 really dialed in (placement, bass levels, and phase all dialed in) pop a disc in for a quick one song demo , and you may find yourself listening to the entire concert..smile.gif

Emailed Tom Tuesday @ about 9:40 then headed to bed thinking I would see a response Wednesday. To my surprise I was the one keeping him waiting, he sent me an email about an hour later. That level of dedication to customer service is nearly unheard of this day and age. So after answering a few of HIS questions, he told me what I needed. Oddly enough there was no upsell. I ordered the XV15 a few minutes ago. Thanks Tom, for your expertise and genuine concern for what would suit my needs best. Now for the worst part of this whole experience, waiting!

I kind of figured Tom would steer you towards the VX15, excellent choice given your situation. enjoy:)

Awesome stuff fellas! Can't wait to hear the impressions. Looks like that fedex guy is getting a workout from those pictures above. When the guy dropped my XV15 off when I first got it he said "what the hell is this thing its heavy?"
I stumbled on this thread last night and read through the whole thing. I am VERY interested in these subs. I currently has a HSU uls-15 dual drive and am looking to make a change/upgrade. They play low enough, but I'm looking for more output and more in the midbass, plus it's time for a new toy or two. I had narrowed things down to the Rythmic FV15 HP, or possibly the VTF 15 from HSU. Also thought about Gorilla's Cap's for sale, but they are too big to fit under my screen, and I have no other placement options, room layout and more importantly wife concerns. The room is an open space with the theater on one side and a bar area on the other. Now I think I found my new toy(s). I'm thinking either two of the xv15's or a xs30 or two. I will be emailing Tom today to get his opinion too.
