I hate it when the carburetor can't keep up with the gas peddle. If going with sealed, sealed will be worse because of the problems of a single subwoofer in a room your size. If going single with a sealed subwoofer, my recommendation would be to consider an XS30.

If wanting a single vented subwoofer, consider a XV30 or a XV30f.

No cabin gain in 12' W X 21' D X 8' H room? anyway we not there yet, let's dial this baby in first.

Sounds like the best thing to do is just wait until you get all the speakers picked out then once you run audyssey on everything all together youll have to do some manual adjustments then you should be good to go. Having a ported sub still might work out great for you. When you have it all ready just make sure you run audyssey on a tripod at ear listening level from all positions that your receiver will allow, then save the results. Afterwards youll have to manually adjust a few things on your receiver such as the crossover settings, ect. Im familiar with the denon receiver so when your ready let me know and ill show you what settings to check over especially for correct movie soundtrack playback. Also if you dont have one already get yourself a spl meter from radioshack. After you run audyssey its real simple to use for enhancing your results. A decent digital one is $50

I would get some boomy like response and clipping during scenes like that but after taking my time with audyssey im glad i dont get any of that. Once it tightens up your sub and balances it out, the sub might sound totally different. It sucks having to wait for everything else but atleast you got great equipment for your setup, itll be nice once you have everything picked out and tuned, then the monument seen will be awesome!

Good to know, thx. First dance at the rodeo after 15 year old HTiB.

Got you, FYI watched irene screen in BHD and the crash screen, sub handled them okay. I guess u right that monument screen is really challenging, and it happen to be the first one I watched.

Haha ill bet your anxious! You have plenty of good equipment to work with, youll be happy once you get it all in and all set up. Also where and how you place your speakers make a big difference. Im more into blueray movies but i also like to go overboard with music from time to time. One thing i noticed is that speaker placement makes a night and day difference. For example, by bringing out my front towers farther from my tv and bringing out the toe angle it really made my movies sound larger. I aim the front towers so that the left front points to the left edge of the center listening position and the right tower points to the right edge. Big improvement! I also like placing the sub in the right front corner which seems to magnify the output and def fills the room nice for when your only running 1 sub. If I had 4 id place them differently since id have the ability to smooth out the bass.

Will surely do, you guys sold me on the sub after I was set on getting HSU VTF-15 but after all the response will pass judgement after calibration with my new speaker. Still running the HTiB speakers with XV15 smile.gif.

My XV15 is front corner loaded, 13' away in my rather large 23x16x8 living room that opens into other rooms, and I have yet to hear any port noise. I placed it, calibrated it with Audyssey XT, turned the gain up 1db and have been enjoying the crap out of it, without so much as a second thought. If you can't get your near field placement to work, even after calibration, then give a front corner a shot before you push the panic button.

I hear you, in wall speaker wires and I went near field to feel the pressure of sub. I guess I can extend sub cable to give me more placement options but Tom said if I go with near field null would not be an issue.

Just a heads up, with my sub 11 feet from main listening position at the front corner, I feel way more pressure than even if its 2 feet away. Sometimes it gets complicated due to room design but have you tried putting your sub in other spots yet such as the corners just to see any difference? Id be worth it! smile.gif

In my current location... I am going to have to have my Triax in the corner right next to my seat and on the other side of it a couch. It will basically be surrounded on all 4 sides. I hope that works out ok. My little KLH does fine there. When we build a proper HT then I will be able to fine tune the location.

Did I miss all of the pics of people receiving their Triax's? Is it in a different thread or have they not arrived yet?

Placed an order for a XV30 yesterday. Next week should exciting. The new theater wont be done until Nov. 20th. I don't know how I am going to wait 3 weeks without hearing it. I was almost ready to order a VTF-15H and on a whim I emailed Tom. He was super fast to respond, very professional, and sent me several emails over a couple of days. I think that the XV15 would have done the job for me but the value for the $ on the XV30 was too good to pass up. biggrin.gif

congrats, did you get the downfiring or tower(f model)?
I ordered the down firing model. It definitely lit the fire under my hiney to finish installing the low voltage wiring and get moving on the drywall. I wont be able to put it in place until after carpet is installed on the 20th though mad.gif

The earliest versions of the XS15 and XV15 included the large "base". We continue to offer this version mainly for anyone who has one of the "base" models and decides to add a second at some point. This way they can have matching pairs.

Send me an email at support, we have some little rubber pads we can send out that has solved this with the couple instances we have encountered.

Hi Alan,

Sorry for the confusion. We really do need to find time to update the site and make things a bit more clear. We offer 5% for a dual subwoofer purchase. And if anyone purchases a single unit and an identical model within 6 months, we discount the price on the second unit 10%. This gives the same overall pricing.(as the "dual" discount). We also offer 5% for returning customers. B-stocks in the outlet center are also normally discounted at 5%. Unfortunately we cannot "stack" these discounts (so someone ends up with 10 or 15% total discount). We strive to keep our everyday pricing as aggressive as possible. That, combined with the much higher cost involved in keeping everything *Made in USA* , definitely limits us in terms of big discounts/sales.

Thanks for clarifying that, Tom. I'm more than happy with my quad XS15s at the price I paid! IMO, they're worth much more! smile.gif

There is a sweet spot these subs like to be set at...if they are not set in this window, then you are missing substantial output. This is just my experience from trying every combination of settings possible. I can say for a fact that if ones room is less than 3000^3 and you are not getting bone jarring, vision blurring, ear popping bass out of a parir of xv15's, then they are not setup correctly.

How many XV15's it took for you to feel the bass in movies & music to beat you up? lol

Tom convinced me the XV15 will do its job in my large living room, idk when but soon I'll get 3 or 4 to place them in my living, mind you it's in a building but it don't matter, the people on my floor waiting for the elevator will feel the bass too :)

Not liking this freight shipping. Was supposed to be contacted today about a delivery time. And nothing. Actually the tracing hasn't been updated. :/ me wants my sub!! Hahah
post #6988 of 9943
Hi. I just found out about PSA when reading a review about the Paradigm Sub One. So I'm new to PSA. Looked on ther web site and everything seems cool.

I'm a Dan of subs with a port because when I've heard sealed vs port the port always sounds deeper. Not freq. just the sound itself. Kind of like in my room if I stand in the center of the room my sub sounds how it does. But I move to a corner it's deeper and sounds like a ported sub. The sealed sub in the corner to me sounds like if I stand in center of room with ported sub in corner. Anyway this is just how I hear sealed and ported. I can tell a difference and prefer the ported sub.

So I'm glad to see PSA has dual driver ported subs. I've wanted a dual driver sub for long time. Right now I have an SVS PC12+ from several years ago. The 525 watt model. It's in my front right corner.

When I saw the PSA XV30b or whatever, I don't get why so many models are listed for the same thing at different prices. I loved what I saw and read. It's almost identical to the SVS PB12+/2. I wanted that many years ago.

I'm wondering how the XV30 might compare to my PC12+? And I'm hoping to be able to get an XV30 next year.
