One of my dual XV15s always has the green light on when I have the on/off switch in the Auto setting. The sub will not shut off(green light off) even after I have had my pre/pro, amps and player all shut down. It is always one or the other sub. I have to manually flip the switch to off to turn the green light off. I don't see how a signal could still be coming through even after everything has been shut down for awhile. Thanks for any insight.

BTW-Congrats to my alma mater Baylor. Big 12 Champs in football.biggrin.gif

I would have to assume that your sub would still be receiving a small signal keeping the sub on. I had the same problem until I rechecked all of my connections. Once I did that problem went away.

I had the same issue with my XV-30s, some time they would shut off, or one would shot off then the other would be on, i found it strange.

I will definitely do that. I can't wait to get. I'm also waiting for my front 3 set up. I sold my whole 7.2 set up.

It would cost me the same to buy a PSA than getting a DIY.

Merry X-mas to all PSA owners! I have a ?. I have an 8'x12' rug in my HT room but the sub sits on the oak hard wood floor,? I'm throwing a couch away and was wondering if I cut the foam in the cushion to sit under the sub would it help vibration? The foam is 5" thick or should I just spring for a subdued? Thanks.

I would strongly recommend you to go ahead and recycle the foam (assuming foam thickness and density are Ok for this job). This way you will be able to confirm if decoupling the sub from the floor will yield better results (vibration reductions) at your room. It is free, it will require just few minutes of your time and then you will have first hand experience if you decide to keep the foam or buy an Auralex / subdude later.

My two cents!

+1. If it does do anything, real or imagined, a piece of this, cut to size, will work just as good as a subdud:

I went with a pair of Arx A3rx-c for the front and a A2rx-c for center and the PSA-XV15.

Question for your smart fellers! We moved not too long ago and I have my XS30 hooked up to the side of one of the couches. The sub cable is a little more exposed than it had been in our previous home. It's happened 4-5 times now where someone has stepped on or near the sub cable and the subs lets out an awful loud buzzing sound. Almost like the sound a microphone makes when it gets too close to a speaker...? I have to run over and turn off the sub as the sound is not so pleasant. Can anyone tells what this is from? Why would touching the cable do that?

No!!!!! I meant for ME to go DIY it would not come out as nice. Sorry for the confusion

I have the same LCR set up as you on the way to pair with my XV30. With all the delays with the speakers, my XV30 has been sitting ever so lonely in the corner of my room for a couple of weeks now. To say I've been wanting to tinker with the XV30 would be an understatement. Should have everything in by Wednesday though, so not much longer!

I talked to Jon from ATI, and he told me they had them in stock. I was thinking of going with empteks, but they don't have anything in stock. ETA was passed Xmas.

Oh I was just playin Brian, although I remember a certain entertainment center you built that came out very nice. I also remember a certain project recently that the builder didn’t take magnet flare into account and had to build the baffle mounting out 1”-1/2 lol rolleyes.gif ID-DIY it’s all good imo and never/try not to gloat one way or the other.. maybe correct every now and then.

Well the Svs SB13u is here...I hope to hear from Tom either tomorrow or Wednesday telling me my XS has shipped. Fingers crossed...cool.gif

Anyhow...here are some pictures of it...I only ran a quick set up for now with my avr for a quick listen. I'll say one thing right off the bat ....the ultra drivers hardly move unless they're driven...I noticed this prior with its big brother the pb13 and again with this unit. I don't plan on pushing this to its limits but I'll need to get some EQ before I can seriously give it some listening. Heh...I'll also need to read or download the manual because its missing and I want to read up on all the DSP modes & setting offered within this unit. I'll likely find something that works and leave it alone.

Do you guys think once my xs30 arrives it would be better to stack em or co-locate the 2 subs to compare them?

Anyhow here some pictures of the sb13u...same location for now as my last sub and likely where the xs30 will settle into. For now the one word I'll use to describe the sb13 is cute...my wife called it that when see seen it tonight...women...lol.biggrin.gif

You are certainly doing it right, Billy p. Tom mentioned to me that stacking would be best to compare the two (obviously, the little SB13u on top of the much larger XS30). I, along with everyone else, will be curious about your thoughts on the two after breaking them in and testing them.

There is one musical track I used to compare their music capability (most music, you may not hear much of a difference, but this track I had no problems determining the subs' capabilities). It's Mike Oldfield's "Shabda" track from "Music of the Spheres". I suggest you download the track and test them.

I downloaded the manual from the SVS website. If you have any questions at all about either sub, contact PSA / SVS. I interfaced with Ed Mullen at SVS and Tom at PSA. Both were extremely helpful and prompt with their responses.

I wish you the best, Billy!

Hey thanks...I recall you mentioning that song in your review and how it was able to define the 2 subs...I just demoed it on I tunes & it really sounds great...how is the rest of the CD (Music of spheres...US version) in your opinion? As for the manual....yup...I printed off the 35 pages from the Svs web site at work but I proceeded to come home without it....doh. rolleyes.gif

Agreed...both...Tom or Ed have a wealth of knowledge & experience. I wouldn't want to bother either one of them with my questions...if, I get stuck, I'll try & locate some answers in the respective owners threads before I proceed to ask them...they're far busier than I. This will strictly be for fun purposes...anyways....some people just get to caught up in all things audio related.biggrin.gif

Thanks again for your review and assistance...smile.gif

Regards, Bill

Hi Bill. Since I'm a big fan of Mike Oldfield, my views would be a bit prejudice;). Music of the Spheres is more classical in nature and I do indeed rank it highly, but not in the top tier of his music. Songs of Distance Earth and Tubular Bells 2 would be my recommendation as a good starting point with Oldfield. I also like Light and Shade, and Tres Lunas a bit better than Music of the Spheres.

Ed helped me greatly (emails) on setting up the Ultra with my Maggies. Since I use the Ultra only for music, I have the gain set at -6 dB. For movies, Ed suggested I up this to -3 dB or greater. Just understand, both subwoofers are set up with 2.1 systems and not 5.1 or greater systems. Crossover points for the Ultra is 40 Hz, while the XS30 it's around 70 Hz (different requirements for different stereo speakers).

It goes without saying that I think you are in for a real fun time;).

Best Regards,
dsrussell

Thanks for the suggestions. The 5" foam was to thick! I'm going to find the XS15 box and get the foam out of that, if it does not work I'll head to Home Depot. I'm all for saving $30 at this time of year. Knew I could count on the AVS members.
