Just an impression I get from reading all of the different threads. Always seems to come across like "yeah PSA great sub but this _____ one is better because of this _____ reason"
Don't get me wrong I LOVE my XS30s, its just funny some of the responses I read from some posters.

PSA subs are mentioned when someone asks for a recommendation. The XV-15 and XS-30 get a lot of love. It's just that people are so fickle that they refuse to state one opinion and leave it at that. They tend to respond with what they think is popular right now. Even if they do think the PSA is the best sub for the job, they are usually going to throw out a Rythmik recommendation and then maybe a SVS model for good measure.

How big is your room with your dual XS30s?

My XS30 is definitely not a secret that I've been able to keep from my neighbors.

The only reservations I've come across have to do with their limited availability and there not being any real reviews out there for that reason.

Yeah, I can see how people do that. New guy on the block an so forth. Some people not all don't want to feel a cheaper more competitive sub is just as good as the sub they paid XXX amount more for. Nature of the threat.

$999 ??? NO !!!!! not yet anyway..I'm considering getting two of these...

Roughly 2100cubic/ft and there's a 6ft wide opening into a another little 800cuic/ft area. The dual XS30s have some pretty awesome output in my theater. I'm going to try to order a Dayton Audio OmniMic set up to measure my room but it'll probably have to hold off for another month or two because I'm just about to drop 3grand on a new LCR set up and 2grand on an AT screen to really get the full theater feeling.

What's crazy is that PSA has probably sold over 200 of the XS30's already and its only been available for about 2 months!

Nice. What speakers are you leaning towards? Ok, my room is as open as open can get(20ft ceiling in family room with balcony look over) so was trying to get a rough idea how dual XS30s would sound since your current owner. Currently have 1 XV15 but going to 2 XS30s.

I'm going to go with the new 228HT's from JTR Speakers. They are pre-ordered priced at $999ea. And I'm just trying to decide which AT screen to go with, I have a 2'x2' sample of Seymour Enlightor-4K and XD screen materials and a sample of EluneVision Referrence Audioweave 4K material.
I was going to go with Ascend Acoustics Sierra towers with the matching center channel but this setup will be used only for movies and the JTR speakers and a really high sensitivity and are very dynamic and a great speaker for HT use.

I wouldnt say that. There are reasons people recommend different subs based upon peoples situations. X sub may be better than Y sub for such and such a reason. I am pretty confident that subs compare respectively based on their price points, well except SVS as I find them a little higher based on price vs value, but even still you are getting a solid sub for the money. I've been reading these forums for a long time and find its silly that a lot of people get butt hurt because someone didnt recommend the sub they bought. In reality if someone is spending upwards of $600+ on a sub we are already in the minority of people that just bought their HTIB that thinks its the best thing ever.

I agree but there are the minority that suggest such and such sub because they own it when another sub was cheaper an just as capable to do the same job(being new kid on the block psa). As jBrown stated that he has seen some people say the PSA is good but that person would state X sub is better because XYZ. I'm just assuming they are referring to a sub they own and spent more on. Poeple have egos they don't want to be crushed. So an so spends 10K on snake oil speakers when in reality he could of spent 5K and had even better speakers. He doesn't want to look silly for that purcahse no way, so he'll say they are great and say why even tho he could of spent less and prolly got something even better. If you kinda get what I'm saying. People always want to feel as if they got the best deal even if they could of spent less and got the same or very close to it. Ya, I was once there with a HTIB yeaaars ago thinking "man i'll never need to upgrade" and then you look where you are now with your setup and so forth. Anywho back to PSA!

It sounds like you are on a verge to having a really sweet setup jBrown. You'll have to get a few pics up when you get it all setup. The JTR 228s should be really nice!

Must be in bass heaven with four 15" and ~1.5kW in that room.

It sounds pretty great but there's always room for improvement .
I hope to pic up a OmniMic set up next month to start to do some in room measurements.

How do you have your duals setup jBrown?

As of right now I have one in each corner of the front of my room. I haven't really tried stacking them, but its something I'd like to try after I order and get an OmniMic setup for measuring.

My room is 20/11/10 with the entrance to my living room being almost 10x3x10. The doorway to the kitchen has no door which is why I didn't put a door in my illustration.

I'm using a Yamaha RX-V661 and have a MLT-2 system from Martin Logan. If I get the XV15, I will upgrade my speakers to Definitive Technology ProMonitor 1000's and 800's for rears. Just stinks that I just recently purchased this MLT-2 system! Speakers are not bad BUT they are somewhat lacking in the mid-range for sure unfortunately. The sub in this system stinks for music!!

Tom, believe me when I tell you that I in no way underestimate your XV15!! I'm pretty sure of whats its capable of! I'm just trying to convince myself that having such a high caliber/quality sub in my apartment and with my current (underwhelming) system is worth aggravating my neighbors, lol! My main concern really is quality sound reproduction at low to medium output. I won't be able to play it loud until I move to either a bigger apartment or my own home.

Whether the current price or if you went with a higher price, the PSA subs have my utmost respect and interest!!

I will tell you that no matter how "low" your speakers are...the addition of a high quality sub will always show benefits. when I was switching mains...i had a stop gap of using the tiny Klipsch quintets paired with the XV15. these things are NOT meant for a room my size but did surprisingly well with the PSA crossed over at 120.

so a great sub will always be a benefit even if not cranked to its potentail
