We have two large shipments inbound----amps and drivers. The amps are due to arrive here mid week(around the 12th -13th). They are on US soil now.(only a few hundred miles away actually)

The drivers are scheduled to arrive a day or three later.

Once everything arrives we will be able to fill all back orders fairly quickly. I'd say within 2 business days. (yes, there will be a couple of long days here..smile.gif

I know this is 5-7(?) days longer than my original estimates and I do apologize for the any inconvenience the additional delay causes.

Thanks, Tom! Any idea when you'll have enough supply to start shipping new orders? I'm trying to talk a buddy into buying PSA, specifically an XS30. tongue.gif

Barring some unforeseen delay we should have all the back orders outbound by Monday/Tuesday (18th, 19th). And if things align perfectly, it could be as soon as 14th or 15th. I'd say any new order will ship out in the 20th-21st window. After that we should be back to "new order ships within 1 business day" for a long time. There is a *lot* on inventory inbound..smile.gif

Very welcome!

I believe I have emailed updates to just about everyone on the back order list but if I missed anyone please don't hesitate to email or call. My above estimates still look accurate. I'll be sure to post another update in about 48 hours too.

John the author of REW is working on making the dayton as supported as the minidsp. Even without the extra support the dayton is easy to get going.

hope this helps

Thanks dstew. That's what I was looking for that minidsp umik-1.

For what it's worth - I initially ordered the UMIK-1 because it is recognized in the REW software and needs no SPL calibration. However after reading up on the unit in the minii dsp website I discovered that there were errors in the individual calibration files associated with each UMIK-1, as well as the fact that the file is for 0 degree grazing point and that the file has a minimum sensitivity of 20hz. I subsequently exchanged the unit for UMM6 that comes with an accurate calibration file good to a minimum of 15hz as well as calibration files for 0, 45 & 90 degrees. The SPL calibration process in REW is quite simple - even I can do it!

I have used an ECM8000 in the past. I have 2 XS30's on order and decided to use this time as an excuse to move to a USB mic for simplicity. I found the same as you mentioned - was sold on the UMIK-1, but decided to purchase a UMM-6 from Cross Spectrum due to recent issues. It also appears that the UMIK-1 has been backordered a bit lately (has been getting to people's doors in 5 days from Hong Kong). I ordered mine over the weekend and it shipped out this morning from Massachusetts. I'll have it before my subs get here.

I'm looking forward to seeing the frequency response on the XS30's. It sounds like others will be doing the same.

Please share your graphs in this thread

Thanks for the heads up Kurfer. Are you guys using a laptop or separate desktop computer?

I'm using a Dell Netbook - basically you need a Windows based laptop/netbook with an HDMI connection to take advantahe of the USB based UMM-6 or UMIK1. Check out the Simplified REW thread: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1449924/simplified-rew-setup-and-use-usb-mic-hdmi-connection-including-measurement-techniques-and-how-to-interpret-graphs for lots of valuable information on set up & implementation

^^^

You don't need a laptop or netbook, you can use your desktop if need be.
Yes you can use a desktop, but if its not in the same room you may find yourself doing a lot of back & forth and
you may need an extension cable for your USB microphone.

Agreed, just wanted him to know that you don't absolutely need to go out and buy a laptop. smile.gif

Placed my order for a XV15 over the weekend. Looking forward to hearing the back orders are caught up so I am that much closer.

The reasons are a few posts back. Calibrations at different angles, especially 90 degrees, so you can point the mic at the ceiling and measure multiple speakers. The UMIK-1 cal is at 0 degrees so it should be pointed at the speaker. Although REW doesn't support the dayton's sensitivity figure so you have to give it an SPL reference (either with an SPL meter or test tone at a known volume) it will support that soon as REW author John is building that. I agree with ggsantafe that the SPL reference setup is very very easy, it's simply not enough to factor into my decision anyway. Finally I believe there was some evidence posted recently in the REW thread that the mik-1 is not really individually calibrated but I could be wrong on that. There was a post in the REW thread not too long ago comparing UMM6 results and UMIK-1 results and it didn't look goof for the UMIK-1 if I understood what I was reading in the graphs correctly.

Just posted on the Rythmik forum, and I have my choice of sub narrowed down to a XS30 or a F15.
I have a sealed 1600 cubic feet room, with the only option of putting it in a corner. I listen to a mix of movies and music.
Any thoughts on the strengths and benefits of either sub?

Okay Tom, Theater room is done this weekend hope your shipments showed up on time smile.gif

Hey Anthony, to get the best most honest answer shoot Tom & Jim a email at support@powersoundaudio.com they'll be more than happy help you out.

I had some back and forth with Tom today via email and I was really impressed with his responsiveness to my questions and overall customer service, even though I'm not a customer (yet?). I know PSA already has a great reputation, but thought I'd add my $.02 since I really appreciate that level of service.

Thanks guys, been following the forum, they do offer great service, glad to hear personally from you.

Back order update.

Everything has been here for a few days now except the 15" drivers we source from Nevada. Unfortunately due to circumstances out of our control(and our vendor's control) their own inbound inventory was delayed by 3 weeks. The good news is that our vendor now has confirmation that everything needed to assemble our 15" drivers will arrive at their production facility on Monday. So barring any unforeseen delays we should have our drivers here in 5-6 business days +/- one day.

Given the above I'd estimate all back orders will ship in the 3-22-2013 through 3-27-2013 window. Any new orders will ship out immediately after that....very likely 3-27 or 3-28. After that we'll be back to 1-2 day shipping on all orders for the foreseeable future. Jim and I are already putting "safety nets" in place to minimize the chances of an outage like this occurring again.

Any current Power Sound Audio order that doesn't ship out within 30 days of the original order date will receive an additional 5% discount. This include dual order which have already received 5% off.

Congratulations, PSA is an excellent company, producing superior products. smile.gif

I have had my two XV15s for a while now but haven't had the chance to hook them up and calibrate. Today I connected one of the two just to get an idea how it sounds. Without any calibration, I sampled some music and..............................DAMN!! this thing is awesome. Talk about DEEEEEEP, Tight, tight, tight bass, this thing has it in spades. If the XV15 sounds anywhere as good with movies as it does with music, I will be real happy. Having heard it, now I can't wait till I have the time to hook up the second XV15 and calibrate using ARC (Anthem Room Correction). Once I run ARC, I anticipate it will sound even better. If that's the case, I think I am going to feel like I robbed Tom considering the price of these subs.
That's really good to hear. I ordered a XV15 earlier this week and I'm REALLY looking forward to hearing it. I'm coming from a BIC PL-200 and an Outlaw LFM-2, so I'm hoping it'll blow those two subs away.

What I can't belive is that you've been able to wait "a while" to hook one of yours up! You MUST be super busy smile.gif
