More than likely, you won't see the movement happening because it will be dark in the room as you're watching your latest action movie thriller and then "BAM!", over goes the upper subwoofer from vibration caused movement as in;"WTF!". Not good. Ruins a good movie when that happens.

As a suggestion for preventing movement, use small round rubber pads which are a bit larger than the subwoofer leg ends. The smooth rubber will grip the top surface of the lower sub and the legs of the upper sub will indent the rubber pad which will have the affect of gluing the two subs to each other with no damage to the lower subs top surface.

If one uses natural fiber material, unless glued or taped in place, the material won't stick to the surface and "WILL" move about. Not good.

nope i wish i had three more of them my other is a 42 panasonic plasma cant rememeber the model the most exspensive in 2010 is all i know lol. the other 2 is my room mates 50'' sumthin cheap and nother 42'' cheap vizio. i have another 65'' at my parents i need tp bring here i sold it to them and they havent used it once and that was 8 months ago so im gettin that back its a 65st30 the model before mine.


ahblaza every time bombs would go off my friends would turn around and say nick thats awesome haha so that made my night.

slingblayde they havent moved an inch because they are heavy and the surface is a sand paper ish material and they hold each other together prty good and last night had a tv on top so that helps but any other times never had a problem at all moving

eljay, I will be going for your placement setup also, Tom actually suggested placing them in the front L&R corners, as he knows my room and how well one is performing in the right front corner, hopefully I will have the second soon. Nice setup brother:)

I have placed the subs eljay style, on either side of the screen. I ran YPAO on my older Yamaha HTR 6080, bumped up the subs a couple DB, and fired up Saving Private Ryan, I was blown away. I watched Disney-Pixar's Brave tonight also, great movie, excellent 3D and very good sound.
Needless to say I am EXTREMELY satisfied with these subs. Now hopefully the Onkyo 818 goes on sale for Black Friday, I think thats what I'm going to use to run my HT. The HTR 6080 is nice, sounds good, but it just doesnt have enough HDMI's on it (2 in,1 out) I like the 8 HDMI's on the Onkyo, and I like the SiriusXM feature, but the rest of the goodies like Pandora, Spotify etc, I probably wont be using.

Kudos to Power Sound Audio for making subs that kick buttocks!

It also looks like the Hsu VTF-15H is still a very well priced competitor.

Hard to say. I'd ultimately like to see a retest of the VTF-15H given the controversy/potential problems with Paul's tests (fat chance).

I'm just going by the 20hz max output seen in several tests, which were several dB higher with the VTF. That obviously doesn't tell the whole story, nor does it diminish an excellent product being put out by PSA. You'd be hard pressed to find better value at $799 than the XV-15. They both seem like subs where not much profit is being made per unit, as the build cost is likely very high.

Not sure if you're aware of what happened with the VTF15's numbers.

Paul originally measured 20Hz output at 1m, peak as 109.9dB; subtracting 6dB to go from 1m to 2m and another 3dB for peak to RMS, and you get 100.9dB @ 20Hz. He retested it later and was able to get an additional 1.2 to 1.7dB depending on various factors. Hsu fans were apparently not pleased with this result (although the other manufacturers of the other products Paul measured around that time, Rythmik, SVS, and Funk didn't have any complaints), so now the story is that Paul must have made an error...twice, and apparently only with the Hsu since Josh's numbers line up with Paul's numbers quite well on the FV15HP. Suffice it to say, a bad taste was left in everyone's mouth, so I doubt we'll ever see the true story, and 3dB was added to Paul's numbers across the board to try and put the matter to bed.

It would be nice to see Josh's data (if he ever reviews it)just for consistency. Based on the latest(?) charting I saw at AH it looks like the overall output of both units is very similar across the entire (measured) band width...20-63hz (within a dB or so) Both are very good products imo giving the consumer a couple of excellent choices in the $799(XV15)- $1018(Hsu) price range.

Ah, that's right. So, going with the retested numbers, the two subs are looking very similar in output.

I'd say so. Your products are making my upgrade path quite a bit more interesting. Really solid effort.

Being competitive in this industry can be difficult when one of the primary "missions" is to source everything possible from other USA based vendors while doing all of the assembly and QC in Ohio. We know we are atypical in that regard but that's okay as we are are hoping to start a trend..


No plans right now for Josh Ricci to get the XV30. Basically you can just look at the XV15 review and add about 3.5dB across the board. The two models share all important design considerations. In fact, I doubt anyone would be able to discern one from the other up to the linear output limits of the XV15.

Josh's review confirms what I already knew about my dual XV15 and validates the risk I took a few months ago. It's a great product at the price point. I don't have any EQ yet (xmas ) but I'm fortunate to get solid +/- 5 response from 80 to 16 hz at my MLP. The design with room gain expected to bring up the low end will vary greatly from room to room, but it works perfectly in my room.

One more thing, Tom. The fact that your products are sourced and built in the USA minus the amp was a big selling point to me. Well done, and I hope this factor sways more people to chose PSA.

I still can't get over how many XV30s we have shipped lately. On the bright side our cabinet vendor mentioned he may need to add another "shift" (I'd guess 2-4 employees) to his spraying process to keep up with our increasing demand.

This may have been asked already, but are there any plans to make front firing subs?

Great to read this review after having placed my order last week...makes the wait to get my delivery that much harder. Was originally scheduled to be delivered 11/20 but FedEx just changed that to 11/21 (yet still says on time delivery). Oh well, I've waited this long, one more day isn't going to kill me.

Got my dual XV-15's hooked up yesterday. Want to thank Tom V, these are absolutely awesome. Loved my HSU VTF-3/3......but these, well
never mind. Could not be happier with Power Sound Audio.

Got my XV15 today...WOW! So much better than what I have been used to. Ran Audyssey XT and then fired up Cloverfield bridge collapse scene. My girlfriend came downstairs in a panic to tell me that the dishes in the kitchen cabinets were rattling like crazy. The system volume was only at -30db...I love this thing! I can't imagine running at reference sound levels.

The first thing that I noticed, besides the huge gain in output, is how clear and clean the bass sounded. My old sub, a Polk PSW111, always sounded really muddy to me and really struggled.

Of course, now I'm feeling like the other speakers in my setup need to be upgraded too to match the quality of the PSA sub...it never ends does it?

"it never ends does it" lol i dont think it does, iv only had my speakers few months and i want to upgrade again and 2 xv15s 3 weeks and already want 2 more haha yup never will end

Gratefully if it ever ends. And yes, it becomes depressing if it does end as then there's no tomorrow and you have to start looking at Bass Boats.

It (I think) upgrading never ends. Over 60, and just upgraded to two XV-15's.

Congrats on your new upgrade. From reports, once dialed in, you're going be very happy. Today I decided to commit to a DSPeaker Anti-Mode 8033 C. I'll put the order in on Friday or Monday, when ever they start picking the phone up again.

I'm kinda over 60.....by about three months.

Told my wife I needed a new toy today and this seemed like a good expenditure of toy monies.
