Question is, will it have what is in effect a 20Hz hpf like the Empire does? If not, it will be more lil Subm than big Emp.

Personally, I have dual XV-15's in and 1800 cu ft. room. 15hz at 115db (measured) is pretty good.

I also have dual (I like sealed subs, and also have dual Epik Legends, 2 12" sealed woofers with only
a 300W amp). They kick butt in the mid bass area, and go down to 19hz in a stereo only
listening room I have.

I can't imagine what dual 15" XS-30's would be like. I would of got those but they were not out yet when I ordered the XV-15's. Tom felt that dual XV-15's would be best given the size of my
room, and what I wanted to achieve.

But XS-30's really look like an Empire on steroids....at an unbeatable price. Dual opposed
15" woofers, 750w Bash amp, weighing in at 111 lbs. Whats not to like? Being sealed they will sound tight. My little old Legends, with just 2 12" driver with a puny 300w amp are great. Especially with mid bass slam.

Dual opposed 15" woofers is a great design, and the XS-30 will hit 9hz to 14hz in a typical
listening room ?.....that's more than nice.

No. With the DSP we've shaped the frequency response to extend well into the deep teens in very large rooms and very likely single digits in more common room sizes. We never really thought of the XS30 in relation to perceived competition. During engineering it was simply though of as a more potent XS15 delivering deeper extension and significantly more output from an enclosure only moderately larger. The overall "sound" quality is very similar though. Both have extremely low group delay and "ringing"(stored energy) signatures. And both also have very clean waterfall plots.

Well I did it, just took a leap of faith on Tom's recommendation and ordered dual XS30s!!!! I can't wait!

I already took one leap of faith with Power Sound, so am sending in my XV-15 for the XS-30. That's two leaps of faith within 30 days and so far, it's been an incredible experience all around with PSA. I know the XS-30 will not disappoint!

Is there some sort of trade in or upgrade promo? I have a xv15 also and I'm interested in the xs30.

I was just within my 30 day trial period.

That's good that you can trade them (XV-15' for XS-30') but how about the shipping
costs returning the XV-15('s)? I think it might be expensive. Just wondering.

I believe I am on the hook for the return. Not sure yet what the price will be.

I figured a return for the XV15 from PA to Ohio about an hour and a half drive away, with FedEx in the neighborhood of $135, less than 70 miles away. It's $58-60 for over size and weight package alone +shipping and handling.

Sadly, it will be a couple of weeks before these arrive:( On the other hand, I have such a bad head cold right now that I could never do any listening to the extent I would need to in order to formulat my opinion. I have my new 4520 AVR and my surround setup all waiting...last night I sat and looked at it all like a sad kid. If I tried to listen, it would just frustrate me, as I wouldn't sound right. Anyway, I got an order confirmation as soon as I hung up the phone with Tom and can't wait to get them. I was thinking of tryng to get my hands on a submersive to pit them against for testing purposes. A friend of mine has an Empire and if I could put all three in one room, I think it would be fun to asess them in an inforaml little shootout.

I'm curious why you are trading in the XV15 for the XS30 and not the XV30 or just adding a second XV15? Are you partial to sealed designs? Were you just not happy with the XV15?

(BTW: I just ordered two XV15s and they shipped out today!)

No, I loved the XV-15, but the XV-30 is just way too big for my living room, and two XV-15's won't work either for the same reason along with WAF issues. I am not particular to either port or sealed. I like the idea of more output in the mid range on the XS-30 as well as the lower extension. You will be more than happy with the dual XV-15s!

Originally I was going to go with dual XS15s because I was trying to keep the height of my subs under 24". But then I realized I could actually deal with about 25"s so then I was going to get dual XV15s. Tom said that output wise 3 XS15s would roughly equal 2 XV15s. And 3 XV15s will (almost) equal 2 XS30s, and that was all I needed to hear! I was sold

I hear you my man, I was going to send the XV15 back and get dual XS30s, but after talking with Tom and hearing your comparison here, I know I made the right choice, the second XV15 is on the way, and the money saved may allow for the third XV15 soon...and then the fourth

Yikes four XV15s!! How big is your room ahblaza?

Could you guys comment regarding if you think it is (or is not) a worthy upgrade from the XV-15 to the XS-30? Dual anything is not an option in my current living space. Another reason other than what I stated above, I wanted to future proof my sub in the high hopes we move in the next few years. Your comments would be appreciated since most of you have much more knowledge than I do!

If you're still within the 30days where you could return the XV15 and you're only going to have one sub I would personally upgrade. Like I mentioned earlier Tom told me the 2 XS30s is almost equal to 2 XV15s. So if you're comparing a single XV15 to a single XS30, I would assume the XS30 would be a better sub. Weather its worth the cost of the upgrade; well really only you can make that call.

I'm personally happy with my dual XV-15's, but my room cu ft is small (1800 cu ft). The port
is a single 4", and they are not boomy at all. I also have bass traps, so that helps
tremendously. They HSU VTF-3/3's I had were somewhat boomy because of the 2
4" ports on the back. That's just a guess on my part. My subs are in each front corner,
but there is a 2' X 4' x 3" thick bass trap covered with micro sued material and 6 mil mylar in
front of them. I think this heips tremendously. Just my IMO and two cents.

Would love the XS-30's, but the cost of shipping XV-15's back negates that.

They are amazing ChopShop. Probably they are the last subs I will buy. Totally satisfied. The XS-30's are
probably fantastic, especially for the price.

Ok, this may be a silly question and I'm not sure if this is the correct thread, but if not, I can post elsewhere.

I currently have the Velodyne EQ-MAX10 sub and my game room is about 20x12x9 (est.) with an opening about 4ft wide doorway to the rest of the upstairs. Anyhow, not sure if that matters, but I would like to feel more of the bass vs hearing it. I know that if you get a sub with a bigger woofer, the bass would be louder. Since I'm fairly new to all this and the Velodyne is my first true sub, if I upgrade to say the VX15, how would the bass be affected? I know it will be able to hear more bass thru the different volumes from the AVR, etc., but I really would like to feel the bass more than having it be super duper loud. I'm not sure if being able to feel the bass and hearing it go together, where you have to have one to have the other. Meaning it has to play with the volume loud so that you get the bass loud to be able to feel it more.

I don't really know much about all the bass numbers or graphs, but know that I would like to feel it more. Don't want a black eye or anything I believe I read that ported subs are good for open spaces to get low hz (which you can feel more) vs sealed subs for closed off spaces which have better sound throughout the volumes.

The new sub, if I can get the wife to accept, could either be upstairs in the game room or downstairs in the living room, which is about 20x12x20 (high ceilings) and is open to the kitchen and dining, very open space. I know the VX15 alone will probably not be enough for that living space, but I'm not trying to shake, rattle, and roll the whole house. Just want to hear the bass better and feel it more.

I saw that Epik was having a sale last week, but I missed it. Was thinking about 2 Legends, but with that price 1 VX15 as I've read is much better. Than I see the new XS30 with dual 15's and has similar footprint as the VX15, so that could be an option as well, but either way, the next sub would cost more than any speaker I currently have, so getting the wife to accept is not easy task

I just would like to hear the bass more and especially feel it more. But don't really want to annoy the neighbors if at all possible or get arrested I know it's probably better to give exact room dimensions and even a diagram, but I just wanted to ask some basics of bass.
