whats the difference between vented and sealed subs... also how would i know which size sub to get.. ? if by cubic feet is there a table to check out?

There is no table, a lot depends on your room size, and your listening habits, movies/music, and the type of output you want. Cubic feet of your space does have a lot to do with it too. Usually vented will give you more output for movies, and sealed is better for music. I'm sure more people will chime in on this. But I think the XS30's are great for both. I'll find out when the next batch start shipping. Go to PSA's website and shoot an email to Tom, he was very helpful to me and others here. I ended up going with dual XS30's, based on Tom's suggestions from our numerous emails. Tom is a great guy to deal with. He will definitely help you and not try to get you to spend more than you need.

Jim and I considered doing a "speaker / subwoofer matching guide" for the website early on but decided against it as their are just too many variables to consider. We would rather work with each customer individually as we feel this really ensures the customer is getting the best product for his performance expectations/requirements. Plus, we have an already established line of communication going to address any setup or calibration questions after the subwoofer(s) arrive.

That's what I love about PSA, making yourselves available to help every customer. I know it's a lot more work, but it is appreciated by us. I know it made me very comfortable dealing with you for the first time, and I feel confident with my purchase, even though I haven't seen or heard the product. Hopefully you, Jim and everyone at PSA are hard at work assembling my dual XS 30's for EARLY shipment. This weekend works for me:)

I bought the VX-15 and have it hooked up to an Onkyo 5009. Have HTD Level Three for the fronts and Center. Sound is awesome. Question. How long after the last sound is played until the XV15 auto turn off? I have checked 4 hours after, and the green light is still on.

4 hours is definitely too long. For the XS15 I have it was around 15 minutes. Since the amp is the same for the XS15 and XV15 I would imagine the sleep timer should be the same.

You could have a slight ground loop issue which is just enough to keep the sub on.

Right. If the subwoofer senses any signal through the connection cable the amp will stay on. You could try raising the gain on the sub and lowering the bass level in your receiver menu. That may do the trick.

I picked my dual XS30 in Friday. They are built like a TANK. Very solid and heavy. Coming from JBL Venue 12 sub, these dual XS30s are worlds apart. The bass is very deep, well defined and has tremendous impact.

Not sure where that was mentioned or in what context....but we don''t have anything planned for the Power-X lineup in that regard near term. It is something we may explore in the future of course.

I'm currently doing some prep work and I have finished fishing the wires thru the walls. I was wondering, if I plan on routing my sub wire towards the back of the room will the quality change if I connect 2 sub cables via a connector vs using just 1 long cable? I only had a 25 ft and a 15 ft, so I connected both Monprice sub cables together via an RCA adapter I picked up at Home Depot this past weekend. The cables are exactly the same model.

I was thinking about purchasing just one 50 ft sub cable, but if it doesn't really matter, that would be best so that I don't have to pull the wire back out and replace it with just one long cable? I know most of the grunt work has already been done fishing the current wire, but if I can eliminate replacing it, definitely better for me. Also, I wrapped the RCA connector in the attic with electric tape to keep any blown insulation from interfering with the connected cables. Not sure if it helps.

Anyhow, the cables I currently have are:
High-quality Coaxial Audio/Video RCA CL2 Rated Cable - RG6/U 75ohm

Using a RCA female-female adapter is fine. I usually secure the area with electrical tape( which you have already done....so you're good).

Any reason I can't turn the XV15 sideways and remove the base - basically making it a front firing sub?

The height is just enough to touch bottom of screen, so flipping sideways gives better clearance.

Yes, we have a few XV30 customers doing this. You have to purchase 4 shorter bolts to run into the holes in the bottom of the enclosure though(where the four legs are). Don't use the 5" long bolts we use during assembly as they will run *in* to the enclosure way too far within the 3.5"(base and standoff) there.

Me too! I actually got lucky and ran across that thread over the Christmas holiday and was able to get a copy. I didn't even know it existed and thought I was late to the party. Anyhow, I never finished Cloverfield b/c of the shaky camera shooting, but the scene is crazy godzilla-like. Never saw Flight of the Phoenix and that scene was pretty crazy too. I also don't recall U-571 and I totally forgot about Terminator Salvation. That gas station scene was pretty bad arse. I already heard the pod sequence in War of the Worlds and that was a good reminder as well.

But overall, that reference bass file along with the others categories is super nice! Definite kudos to the people who put that together. Funny thing is that those scenes sounded pretty good with my current sub, so when I get the VS30, it will be bonkers crazy! eek.gif I'm a bit afraid for the neighbors sake...

Quick update(good news/ bad news)

Good news----sales are in a word...."healthy". I recently made a post implying "I'm not caught off guard very often in this industry". Scratch that. Demand for our products far exceeded our most optimistic predictions and continues to grow. One of the more common phrases between offices here these days is...."Have you seen the orders today? This is nuts:" So a huge thank you to all customers for this type of support!



Bad news----

1) XV15 are sold out. We are scheduled to begin production on the XV15 again late next week.

2)XS30. Again, color me "caught off guard". We are just about filled up for the entire January production run(which should begin late next week). Once this is filled, we may be looking at mid February before we can schedule another production run.

Things are already in motion to minimize these types of outages in the future and I apologize for an inconveniences they may cause.

This is interesting, so I look into this bill me later thing on Paypal. There is ALREADY an order pending on paypal of an XS30! The day it was ordered was the same day my wife was asking questions about the PSA website, and made some comments about Paypal. I was curious on why she was asking about PSA and what sub it was. She NEVER asks me about this stuff.

Might have to play this out and see where this goes.
