Does anyone have a URL for the KDS60A2000 service manual PDF? This used to be available at www_docs_sony_com/release/KDS60A2000_sm.pdf (sorry - slightly obfuscated to allow posting) but that URL is not valid any more. This is to help diagnose the following - any direct help on this is also much appreciated!
My Sony KDS-60A2000 has suddenly refused to light up its screen. After power-on, the sequence is: (1) Both rear fans seem to spin up normally, and the green led starts flashing (again normal so far); (2) Green led flashes 14 times before "click" sound occurs (sounds like the power-down click) - fans spin down momentarily, and then back up again; (4) Green light flashes from this point endlessly now, with no grouping into 3, 4, 5, etc., pulses - it's on and off endlessly. The screen stays dark throughout all of this.
I tried swapping in a new OEM Philips lamp (w. harness) - no change. Looking at the forums, etc., I pulled off the back of the TV and observed the ballast module during the process. I gather I was supposed to see a neon flash, and hear a buzz, as it tried to power up the lamp. I saw and heard nothing. One posting on JustAnswers.com suggested trying this without the main lamp installed. Same results - no light or buzz from the ballast module. FWIW, without removing the ballast, I couldn't see any obvious puffed-up capacitors either.
With the back off, I did notice a small flashing amber led (period 1-2s) somewhere under the grilles on the right side of the TV (when facing the back). I presume this is on some logic board in there, but I have no idea whether this is likely to be a significant diagnostic light, or just normal behavior. If I could locate the service manual (new URL, anyone?), I might be able to find that out.
I *have* seen a couple of postings asking about this same situation (14 flashes, click, endless flashes) on the web, but with no reported final resolution. :-P Much more common is that the front leds display a repeating diagnostic sequence (3 flashes, 4, etc.), but this is not the case here. Does this mean it's likely to be a problem with the central logic board of the TV, rather than a controlled component like the ballast? If I can't get my hands on the service manual, and there's no other clearer evidence that the ballast is at fault, I suppose I'll cut my losses and call out a service tech for diagnosis, in the expectation that this is a deeper issue with the logic board. Any advice is very welcome!
