It has now been 10 days since the digital transition, and I would just like to state that my worries for not getting CFTO consistently were completely unwarranted.
Same here. It's my only reliable Canadian station. I kind of wish CBLT was on VHF...
What kind of setup do you have? CBLT comes in perfect with my 4228. No amp, pre-amp, nothing.

What antenna are you using in cheektowaga to get CFTO? I can not get it with my DB8. All i can get is 41 19 and 5
post #6425 of 6985
CM 4228. I'm guessing the DB8 is UHF only (CFTO is on VHF 9). The 4228 is primarily UHF, but apparently it has decent VHF capability.

pr92; CBLT along with CBLFT are and have been the strongest out of Toronto.
CICA comes in 2nd, stronger than I receive WPXJ in Pavilion.

Sadly, at the moment all I have is this set of 30+ year old Archer rabbit ears. They're about 25 feet in the air, on a ceiling beam, so about the height of the average attic antenna. It always performed better for the VHF stations than the UHF ones. If I turn the dial to VHF, CFTO, as well as all the Buffalo stations come in perfectly. I turned it to UHF and got WPXJ, CBLFT, and CICA, but no CBLT tonight. CICA and CBLFT were gone by 1, so I assume it was some kind of Tropo. I realize that now in this post-transitional world I simply need an outdoor antenna.

I took this while it was aimed for CHCH analog, now the dipoles are extended.

Wow. Really good signal strength today on all the channels. So good I must have picked up CBS from a parallel universe this afternoon because I just watched the Bills spank the Chiefs 41-7.
Did anyone notice that CBLT downgraded its picture from 1080i to 720p? All guide information is lost too...on both my TV's.
It was reported in the Toronto thread.
I wonder why, they have no subchannels. Saving $$, paying less for a narrower bandwidth network feed?
No Canadian DTV stations has sub-channels. The CRTC doesn't allow them at this point in time. Stupid regulations here.
I know that, my question was; why did they drop to 720p since subchannels are no issue??
CBC wants to do Mobile DTV.

Hi all,

I just moved to Buffalo from Rochester. I recently noticed in doing a lot of reading that the Sabres games can sometimes be caught on TW Basic in Clear QAM.

I tried to do some scanning last night on my WinTV 950Q Clear QAM tuner while the Sabres prospects game was supposedly on MSG but could not find it, I did find 4 channels that were unencrypted that were just black screens. Did anyone find it last night?

Or does anyone know if TWC is changing their channels this upcoming season to not carry the Sabres games on Clear QAM?

Are only home games shown on this Clear QAM channel or both home and away?

Thanks!
They were 'in the clear', but after they adopted their damn, stupid SDV, I don't know if that applies anymore. Not that it really matters, since it would be a different channel in each node and one would have to rescan for it every game.
It was just the home games.

The Sabres prospects game was just on the actual MSG Network, not the Sabres Time Warner channel, which is what you must have been scanning for. It was actually the Rangers' broadcast.

CBC's strange 720p antics continue. I am receiving CBLFT on channel 53896-3. Yes, I'm serious.

And CBLT on 1-3.

Looks like somebody gave the controls to a kid & they wouldn't stop pushing buttons.
Haha, no. Honestly, this was just a scan, and I flipped through channels I got.

RTV is gone.. wgrz for sure not going to put anything new on?
ME TV did them in?
Quality left alot to be desired. Anything more than on SD sub-channel and the quality goes in the toilet.

Something's seriously wrong with WIVB. They've showed the Bills winning for two weeks in a row now.

This must have been the case, because 4G service for Buffalo & Niagara will arrive on 10/20..

Channel 10 just showed up.
CFPL aka CTV two.

I can't believe I get 31 channels/sub channels now - most in beautiful HD.

Watching channel 7 right now on the DTVPAL DVR and no more glitch - keeping my fingers crossed this annoying problem is gone for good!

CTV2 should soon have a repeater station close to Buffalo on CH42, well at least sometime next year maybe. That one should be more reliable. Location will be in Fonthill Ontario, about 32 miles due north of your location in North Collins.

Anyone know why Titan TV has the wrong listings for channel 41 and if there is a trick to get the correct listings?
What's this "LeafsTV" for Canadian hockey? A new CATV service?

1HD_addict; With that lousy, scaled back, glitch ridden software Dish, now PCT uses, it's amazing any thing shows for the recorder. Really trashes the device, especially in this market.

Wow - now tell me how you really feel
Actually, I'm not sure what you mean by 'its amazing any thing shows'
Do you mean you are surprised by how many channels I get or were you referring to my channel 41 question about the wrong listings (I was referring to Titan TV.com listings - not my PAL listings).

Yea - the DTVPAL DVR is a buggy device - but it is the best box around for recording OTA HD stuff without a fee. It stinks that it is not supported anymore. They were 1 or 2 firmware updates away from making this a great device.

I am tossing around the idea of making my own HD recorder using a Zotac ZBOX as the core and Win7 media center as the medium. I have great success recording shows on my laptop - but I can't have the laptop hooked up to the antenna 24-7. I'm thinking I can make a two tuner HD DVR for under $300 but I've only started to research it.
