Interlocking doors would be cool. That's the back-up plan if the door is too leaky, but I hope to avoid it. There's not enough room for the outer door to be in-swing, so it still interferes with traffic outside the theater in a way I was trying to avoid. The back-up plan in my head placed the outer door on the jamb I've set already and the inner door on a totally separate jamb, at the margin of that recess - but that would be a problem with clearance on the seats, I'm afraid. Of course, two doors in one rough opening would be the more space-efficient arrangement. In order for the communicating door arrangement to work with the soffit, they would have to be on separate jambs obviously - so then it might get a little awkward - I don't know. I'll have to get the riser in and have a think.
I have gotten a little more done, though not nearly as much as I would like. My volunteer help called in sick this week, so I didn't get any more soffit framing up. I did get some more subwoofer cabinet action going, however. I need to borrow a router again to get the cutout for the drivers cut, but since I don't own any subwoofer drivers, I hardly feel it's a rush. I'm not exactly sure how large a hole to cut, so I don't want to mess that up. Anybody wan to float me $800 worth of drivers
They're out of stock for a couple more weeks anyway.
Mr.Tim - I just hope I'm right about your graphs. I feel like I know what I'm talking about, but sometimes I have doubts. Given that I have virtually zero actual hands-on experience with acoustical analysis and design, I'm just an armchair quarterback. If I had some practice with the math, I'm sure I would have a better feel for the details - but as it is I'm groping just a little. We'll see. In the mean time, you are absolutely welcome! Saturdays are slow at work, so I stand around and post from my smartphone - which is both convenient and horrible, since I don't have goo access to multiple tabs and a real keyboard and all that. So if I'm posting during the day (when I should be at work), consider all my posts un-edited and subject to review.
