How many of you keep speaker boxes

I used to buy/flip speakers or flip speakers when I wanted a change....

Keeping those damm factory boxes eat up room. Finally decided to just throw some boxes out but kept a couple, like the Phantom box, in which I may sell at some point.

Just curious....do ya'll keep your speaker boxes....

Have you tried flattening them and storing the foam outside the box? I ditched my tower boxes, but kept the foam, because I live in already small place. If you tend to move or sell off your equipment often, I would keep the boxes.

The intent to resell at some point should be the primary reason for keeping original boxes and packing materials as this is value added to the selling price. I have the original boxes and packing materials for a pair of B&W 801 Series 80 speakers, circa 1979. Does take up space, breaking down the boxes helps.

Add to this a dose of OCD and I save almost every durable product box. Was looking through closet and found food processor and mixer box from a couple of years ago. My attic is stuffed with all my current boxes and many for equipment that I no longer have.

I wish I did as I am trying to sell my last set of Polk towers. Had a few out of state buyers interested but I cant find a box to fit as I am selling a long slender tower. Don't want to risk shipping it in a half assed packaging as UPS is not exactly careful with packages.

When I was in a larger home I would store all my equpment boxes in the rafters in the garage. Had stuff up there for 10 years. When I sold stuff on craigslist, most people didn't want the boxes but I made them take them away anyway.

I would demo my equipment before selling and then they didn't want the boxes once they knew everything worked. But I boxed it all up and gave it to them.

I could definitely see the value in keeping them especially if you need to ship them somewhere.

I kinda have a guide, if I spend over $1k each it gets stored. If I intend to junk or give the item away, the box gets tossed.

I keep all my boxes and packing material. I'm lucky to have a large crawl space below my house. It's almost a full basement. I can almost stand up in it. Some of the boxes are really large. I have some large speakers and subwoofers. I had to take the access stairs apart to get some of the boxes down there. It will be worth it later on when the day comes that I move. My flat screen TV boxes won't fit down there. I broke those down flat and keep them in the garage against the wall.

I keep the boxes from all my AV stuff. My wife thinks I'm nuts, and has frequently mentioned she'd like them thrown out. I say, "If we move one day, I want to pack up everything properly."

Luckily, everything (mostly) fits in an unused closet in the basement, so its out of the way (and out of sight).

Years ago, I lived in a condo, and kept all my empty equipment boxes (easily over a dozen boxes) stacked in a locker in the store room. Somebody broke in, and went through every box, hoping to find something. Nothing but styrofoam, though.

I keep boxes of stuff under warranty, then progressively get rid of them,

Pfffffffffft, not me! Off to the burn pile and had flames near 50' high when it lit off

Yes, that's my litle toy that I use to carry boxes, transplant day lillies at my wifes discretion and every now & then, push trees over.

Oh, and on a more somber note, to bury dogs when their time comes

Wow, what nice green foliage. I'm jealous I miss living back east.

Here in AZ, everything is brown and there's nothing but dirt.

Boxes are definitely nice for shipping or moving but they eat up space. I started throwing my boxes out. Only ones I have left are my speakers and I plan on throwing them away. I've lived here for 30+ years and don't plan on moving anytime soon, heh, although I do have plenty of room for the boxes, just don't see the need to keep them. Plan on keeping my speakers for a long while...

Nice! That must come in handy! Also implies you have the space to keep it. Sweet.

(So that's what Jub boxes look like!)

I keep most all boxes especially for speakers and equipment I may sell someday. Eventually, older boxes for equipemnt that would just get tossed if it broke, get thrown out.

Actually, that is the box that the K402 (alone) comes in. I already broke down the boxes for the bass bins.

For anyone who might not realize... the unbroken boxes are for my TWEETER horn (and driver) alone. The boxes for the bass bins are already flattened out.

I keep all of my boxes as well, just in case I move.

I want a back hoe - but have no place to keep it

I keep boxes for speakers that are unusual shapes.

Yep

btw that is MikeB who had his delivered on the same day mine were delivered....I went over to help him pull his off the truck so we could also get to mine when the truck got to my house. He lives about 20 miles away from me.

Yep, me too. I try and stack the smaller boxes into the larger, but still eats up valuable garage space. I even kept my 55" HDTV box, which is silly big. That thing is going to go for sure.

I have found that keeping boxes and instructions increases resale value.

And prevents damage when moving...I even keep the plastic bags some items get wrapped in.

I've keeping all my box as long as I've been in the game but for the past year and half I own a huge pair of speaker which I had at buddies apt, who has more than enough closet space, I just recently decide to take my boxes out of place to my job basement storage space. minus the huge speaker box, so I sold them and got 100 bucks for themAt my job I have more control over getting them in case I need to make a fast change.

Cool. No damage from that hole in the box?
