Epson 3010 glasses - Page 9

The panny glasses are crazy high now. The Epson's on sale are a pretty good deal.

FWIW The Xpands I tried didn't work (they had after-images, I'm guessing they were trying for 50% duty cycle). The Revena's I tried also almost worked, they lost sync really easily though. (Might've been too far away).

Expand X103 don't work, Expand YOUniversal X104 do work.

If the PS3 glasses have an IR receiver in the front of them will that cause a problem with the connection to the PJ if it's mounted behind you?

No. The IR signal is bounced off of your screen and the 3010 has a STRONG signal.

Don't want to crap on this thread since I'm no longer an owner (so feel free to not bother replying), but I just wanted to say thanks to those of you who replied to my last request regarding making sure I had all of the included contents in my box when returning my projector. The 3010 is a very nice machine, but I decided in the end that 3D wasn't as desirable to me as was the Epson 8350's longer zoom and lens shift (and the cost savings didn't hurt, either), so that's what I *think* I've settled on. I'll be dropping my subscription to this thread shortly, but wish you all the best in your enjoyment of the 3010. It sounds like Netflix may finally start renting 3D discs, so hopefully that comes to fruition soon and benefits many of you.

Hey everyone, just a heads up. the Sony PS3 3D glasses are on sale at Best Buy today for $39.99 each.
Another question about the glasses, a little off topic but in the same ball park anyway. I'm about to get a Epson 3010, the projector will be above and behind the viewing point. will there be any issue with the emitter for the glasses? Does it bounce off the screen to the glasses or is it RF?

It bounces off the screen.

Wow, totally cleared out all over Colorado. Are they blowing out their stock? Are they discontinuing the item?

I actually have 5 pairs also, but bought 2 a couple of weeks ago from Amazon. I'm waiting on the 5010 to motivate me to make progress on the HT.

Wow, thats funny because I am in the same boat whereas I bought 5 pairs of the PS3 Glasses (they arrived today) and a New receiver but Have not purchased the projector yet. My wife and kids keep saying to me when are you going to buy the darn thing. Well, I should be pulling the trigger in the next few weeks on either the 5010 or 5010e.

I did buy the 3010 a couple of weeks before Christmas just to try it and all and I was really impressed with A Christmas Carol on 3D but I am saving for the Epson 5010 for the lens shift.

New Epson 6010 owner bought 2 pair Sony Playstation 3D glasses on sale from Best Buy for $40, me and spouse tried them and compared them to the Epson 3D glasses. To make a long story short the Sony glasses are getting returned and I'm buying more Epson 3D glasses. The comfort of the Epson glasses are much, much better. The Sony glasses are fine for about 10 minutes but then are uncomfortable (for us) and the image looks a bit better on the Epson. The only thing that frustrates me about the Epson glasses is that they aren't USB-rechargeable like the Sony glasses are.

BTW put the 3D Brightness setting to High (that affects brightness of glasses) and watched a lot of The Ultimate Wave Tahiti and Avatar and so no negative effects (no ghosting/etc.) and definitely ups the brightness on my 1.3 gain screen.

Hi all, I am watching the thread and I saw that Toshiba FPT-AG02G glasses are compatible with Epson 3010.. so I was wondering if anyone has already tested them..
My Epson is on the way.. so I thing I will buy these as they are the cheaper by far (in Europe). If I am wrong please let me know..

Can anyone summarize the list with the compatible ones.. it would be useful..
Thank you in advance.

I went to bestbuy and bought Sony PS3 model#98079 $69 bucks. Work perfectly with my Epson 5010. It works as good as the Epson 3D glasses I have. My wife and daughter said the Sony feels/fit better on their faces.
Well, Amazon has the PS3 3D glasses for $54 shipped...a much better deal for now

Take this posting and flip it 180 degrees for me and my spouses opinion who hated the PS3 glasses and love the Epson glasses.
I have 5 of the PS3 glasses. They work really well and fit me fine. I have to concur with an earlier posting about reflections from behind. They are pretty distracting and mess with my eyes and the 3d. If your rear wall is completely black or your seat backs are large and black it may not be a problem. I will likely use the PS3s for guests and get a couple of Epsons for my wife and I.
I also hate the little switches to turn the PS3s on and off. They are really hard to switch and even more so in limited lighting.

I think the on/off switch on the Epson glasses is perfectly located - on the underside edge of the right temple, just behind the lens - and it is a push button switch you can easily feel in the dark with your finger/thumb. Press and hold for 2 seconds to turn the glasses on, press and hold again to turn off - you can do this very easily even with the glasses on your face...even more convenient than a button on the top of the nose bridge.
I do agree about the difficulty in using the on/off switch and although in our viewing environment it's not any problem I also can see where the reflections would be distracting if there was light behind you--talkling about the PS3s here. For ME though, they work great and for the $$$ they cost are a bargain. I also have the 3rd gen. Pannys as well as the Epsons.

JMHO

I thought the Epson had a little more 3D pop. The PS3 glasses felt more comfotable
