Epson 3010 glasses - Page 12

Anyone know if these glasses work on the Epson 3010? They are only $32 and one review on amazon says it works with the 3010...

Even if they did, I would stay away from them as I found them to be very uncomfortable when I tried them for my Panasonic 3DTV.

I'm thinking of getting the Monster glasses to use with my 5010. I have the 5010 mounted inside a soffit (built for being able to mount the PJ inside to 'hide'...has quiet fan that comes on based on temperature in soffit to pull cool air in.) I am presuming that with the unit in a soffit and only the lens open that I would need to use an IR extender (if that's what its called) from Epson.

But with the Monster, I am thinking I could mount the IR receiver for the Monster glasses where it can receive the IR from the back of the unit, and then won't need to run a Cat5 cable from the PJ to front of the room.

I've read mostly positive reviews of the Monster glasses. I'll probably start with 2 pair, and see how it goes.

Anyone know of a reason my plan wouldn't work?

Hmmm....B&H indicates that the manufacturer has discontinued the Monstervision 3d Glasses.

And from what I read Panasonic's next 3D projectors will all use RF glasses, so there was some question as to how long their IR glasses will still be available... there was talk that Panasonic was manufacuring the last run of their IR glasses this summer, and once thery were out of stock, that was it... Don't know how true this is, but that would eliminate another alternate brand of glasses available that would work with Epson projectors... This would basically just leave Epson and Sony PS3 glasses as options...

I suppose the Monsters can still be purchases. They are still listed on Monster's site...at a fair price (maybe because they are clearing them out). I'm hesitant to purchase them if being discontinued. Not sure if I should be or not, but makes me concerned about support if there are issues.

I have used these glasses for 1 week now, they suck. Horrible crosstalk, while my original Epson and PS3 glasses have none. I am going to return them

For those with the PS3 3D Glasses and a Epson 3010.

My question is that do I need the Sony 3D Emitter as well or do the glasses work fine just with the Epson 3010 emitter out of the box?

Thanks

/sanjay

P.s: Sorry for the crosspost. Posted on the wrong thread earlier
post #339 of 365
My PS3s work fine with my 5010. No need for an emitter. The only issue I have with the PS3s is you get reflection off the inside of the lens and can see stuff behind you. They are cheap though.

Seems there are tradoffs on everything. I was considering Monstervision, but they have been discontinued (although still available), and I read a lot of complaints about battery life.

Maybe I should just get the Epson glasses. I need to read back through the thread again and see what is said about them.

I plan on getting a couple pairs of the Epsons for myself. My guests can use the PS3s. wink.gif

The mini shootout thread has some good info on the diff glasses with screenshots. The Epsons to me have a more neutral lens color and a little bigger viewing area than the Sony's I have, I like 'em. As someone mentioned, there are reflections on the sony's, They also seem a little tight and heavier to me, but their rechargeable which is nice.

I went ahead and ordered a pair of Monstervisions to test with, and to have the RF unit. Price is pretty decent on Amazon now (different seller though).

In the Monstervision thread, one poster thinks that maybe I can plug the Monstervision RF unit into the externl IR emitter port on my 5010e. I was thinking that is not the case.

Can anyone chime in on this?
Has anyone tried the VIP RF glasses? I understand they are the Bitcauldron, like Monster. They supposedly are a 'newer version'.

I can only find one place that sells them, (Curt Palm). They are higher than Monsters (especiallyi when you add the fairly high postage they charge). Not sure if I should spring for them. If not sold by many, future service may be an issue.

Also, I need to get a smaller pair of glasses that will work on my 8 year old Granddaughter. Just read through this thread again, quickly. I had thought I saw something about a brand that has different sizes of glasses, but didn't find it.

What are your thoughts?

Not much activity on this thread cool.gif ... Trying again...

Anyone know if the Panasonic RF glasses work on the Epson...assuming Monster RF emitter is already in place?

[EDIT]
I'm guessing not. As I read more about the Panasonic RF, it apparently is Blue Tooth.

The Panasonic IR Glasses that work with the Epson series are the TY-EW3D3LU, TY-EW3D3MU, and TY-EW3D3SU - Large, Medium and Small sizes respectively...The newer Panasonic TVs coming out are supposed to be RF now, I believe. The Panasonic IR glasses may not be made much longer, and are getting scarce already...

+1!

Ebay may be your best source for the small Pannys. I need to pick up a pair for my Grandson!

Please tell me if I am misunderstanding this concept.

If I purchase IR glasses, I am planning on purchasing the Epson V12H484001 external emitter; run a Cat5 cable from projector through a conduit to in front of me, in cabinet under screen; and then that supply the IR for the glasses.

Needing to do that because of enclosed unit (yes, it is ventilated) . Using the Monster RFs, but no smaller ones available for the grandkids.

The PS3 3D glasses are on sale again for $29.99 at bestbuy.com. (Note: You can only order 3 at a time on the website). I did 2 orders of 3. This is the cheapest I have seen them and They work great with my Epson 5010 projector. They also work good for my 2 kids (10 & 12) and they have small size heads. Karl

I was just going to post about this.

Going to pick up an additional 2 pair for at home. That will get me to 6 pairs for the theater. Hard to imagine needing a lot more than that at this point.

Nice price on those.

Hi! Thanks for the information. You gave better service than Epson Call Service. Really appreciate. Glasses were on sale & work great with my Epson 3010 projector.
just picked up 2 pairs of the ps3 glasses to test out on my new 3010, I got 2 pair of the ebay ones, they are ok, not great but i think worth the $60 difference on the epson ones, we shall see what the ps3 ones are like, BB still has them for $29 with free shipping
post #354 of 365
I'm not sure if it's been mentioned elsewhere, but amazon also has the ps3 glasses for 29.99 now with free shipping. I was waiting for the new epson glasses but decided to bite on these to use for the near term.

Picked up 4 PS3 glasses from BestBuy sale for my Epson 5010 but I am now regretting the decision. Picture looks too dark and glasses are uncomfortable.
I do not have experience with other 3D glasses, so please tell me - Are there 3D glasses which are NOT dark-tinted? If not, which are the least tinted glasses that are also comfortable to wear?
Also - Is Epson making some new glasses (marketed with 5020) which are considerably better then current gen of 3D glasses?

Already seen that, I could not make out any information out of this regarding dark tint comparison against PS3 Sony glasses.

Are Epson 3020/5020 3D glasses compatible with 3010/5010? I know that wireless technology in 3020/5020 glasses is different but is it backward-compatible with older 3010/5010 projectors?

With these new Epson RF 3d models, will the new rf Panasonic light weight glasses work with Epson?
