Optimizing my monitor for the 360.

This question is for anyone who has experience using a PC monitor with the 360.
I just got a Ben Q XL2410T to use with my Xbox360, it's hooked up via HDMI. I have an active HDMI splitter for my monitor and plasma. I prefer HDMI to VGA for this reason.

These are my current display settings on 360:

HDTV Settings (resolution): 1080p

Reference Levels: Expanded (anything else, and the picture gets washed out)

HDMI Color Space: RGB

No matter what settings I try, I cant seem to get contrast and brightness correct. I've tried them all, and I've tried different monitors too, same issue. Is this something I'll just have to deal with when using a monitor for the 360?

Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

Elaborate on what you mean by "I cant seem to get contrast and brightness correct."

I think I figured it out. What I meant is blacks would either crush or be blown out, no matter where I would put the brightness.
I'm keeping reference levels at "standard". If I select "standard" picture mode on my monitor it's good to go. I'm going to calibrate it now, and I'll post an update.

Well I finished calibrating, looks pretty good. I'm using an i1Pro and CalMAN to calibrate. I got the greyscale to look pretty good, but I cant do much for color. Looks fine for gaming, which is what it's used for.
