And in the beginning...

Hi all,

First off, congrats to all the great setups on here. Secondly, my setup is very modest compare to some of the awesomeness on this thread. Lastly, everything I have except for the PS3 and the tv was bought second-hand.

Like many others, this is only the beginning of the pursuit of satisfaction...(yeah right, "satisfaction").
After I replace my two subs, a nice black accent wall (behind tv) and some dark grey for the rest and some acoustic treatment are in the plans

You are correct and yes I did think about it. What I'm really looking for is another set of F1. I would like to use 1 of them for my center, mount the tv on the wall, and have to small audio rack on each side of the F1 for my equipment. I think that would be ideal. The C1 as a hard time keeping up with the F2s. For now, I angled the C1 upward (with an old remote) and find that to be slightly better.

Nice! You're right, one doesn't need to spend thousands of dollars to have some fun with a system. I bought all my speakers second hands and for me, I would be hard press to find better value.

Got to warn you though, don't think for a second that you're not going to get bit with upgraditis

I was told by my sweet half that when we're done painting and redecorating the master bedroom, we can repaint and decor the basement, any color I want. I also showed her pics from this forum with acoustic treatments and some of you did such a wonderful job that I can put as many as I want as long as it looks good like some of yours.

I've never been so motivated to shop for decor and furniture and paint in a long while.

neat! But I think the shipping and the duties would cost almost as much as the panels.

Got a few new pics up. Did some cleaning up, new paint, new couch, new chair, new speaker stands, new entertainment center and mounted the tv on the wall (it reminded me how much of a crappy do it yourselfer I am)

I was concern about the venting of the Denon so I got a small computer fan on top and a bigger usb fan exhausting out back and it's working very good. After a loud movie, still very cool.

It's not the perfect room, but it's what we have. It's more reflective of what we like. My wife enjoys it as well. What she may not enjoy is knowing what I plan to purchase next....

We have a primary "formal" living room with no tv. That's why my wife is pretty much open to everything I want in the basement.

In our other living room, I plan to run a 2.0 setup in the future with vintage gears if I can find it. I like the look of vintage gears. I already have the stamp of approval Her only criteria is that it needs to be "cool" and "easthetically pleasing".

I was going to look into new speakers 'cause these are the only "real" speakers I ever owned but I decided to keep them for a while. From what I gathered when I raise my intention on this forum is that I would have to spend a good deal of $ to outperform in a decisive way what I have now. I'm not saying that Athena are the best speakers ever but apparently, $ for $, they are still pretty good. Plus I'm in Canada so I don't have access to all the same deals as my southern neighbors.
