thank you sir. When I have enough saved up again, probably next year, it's room treatment (panels and bass trap) and some measuring equipment.

JP,

What one is that? Harmony One? How do you like it? I need some sort of universal remote solution for all my stuff as well.

Thanks
That is a Harmony one. I have two myself. For the price you can get em these days they're great!

I really like your HT jproy13... Those SVS's must sound awesome!

Have you considered pulling your speakers forward a bit? Give it a try. Just so the front face of the speakers are more forward than anything else in your setup... Kinda so there's uninterrupted space between them. This goes for the centre too, although only so it's just over the edge of the cabinet... If you don't like it move it all back, but I'm confident the sound will improve at least a little.

Very Sweet Set-up! I also like what you did with the lighting in this room! Nice Job!!cool.gif

hehe, you sure do, you have lots of nice gears there. Like CKWells said, it's a One. Didn't see the need for the 900 as it would have only been for the PS and I don't use that to play blu rays. It works flawlessly, took about 20 minutes for initial setup. I did some tweaking afterward like having the BD player tray open when I choose the "Watch movie" activity. For the PVR, it was a little more labor intensive but the software guided me through no probs.

It even handles my old Yamaha CDC-650 with no issues which is cool cause I had lost that remote.

Indeed, the SVS are awesome. Good catch on the fronts smile.gif. I really didn't pay attention. I had pull my center off the middle of the entertainment unit toward the front so I don't have any immediate reflective surfaces between it and me, I suppose I should apply that to the fronts.

When I have a chance, I'll play with it and see.

Thanks!smile.gif Wasn't really planned that way but I too, like the way it turned out.

I've just got the SVS and I'm already wanting new 7.0 speakers. I preffer them to all match (except the sub of course), I'm anal that way:eek:. I don't think that spending $1000 / $1500 on a new 7.0 set up would bring much more than what I have now.

I was looking at the Primus series but from what I've read, the impedance is closer to 4ohms tha the published 8ohms.

If anybody has any suggestions, I'm all ears...

Got myself a REALISTIC STA-90 and a couple of Centrios speakers. Not a bad score considering the relatively low price of $50 for the 3 pieces. The receiver is pretty clean for 36 years old piece.

And no, I'm no a RS w***e tongue.gif

Very, very NICE.

I too have a beginning pic like yours.

I need to spend a little time and throw up a real post from the start to current.

Thanks!

I started small thinking that all I was going to want was just a little better than tv speakers...

You should start a thread too, it's fun to see what others are doing.

Well, did a few modifications yesterday. Got myself a couple of Infinity P252 'cause they were cheap and similar aesthetics then the Athenas. Took 1 of my AS-F1 and am using it as a center along with a couple of new tables on each side.

I'm liking this so far...

Sorry, bad pics, crappy camera.

What a difference the newer paint job did - makes the space look so much more intimate and ideal for movie watching. Your system setup looks awesome especially with those dual subs. That's a great room with perfect seating arrangement.

Hey and that humble origins pic is terrific. I'm inspired now to dig up some of my really old system pics.

Thanks!! I have since moved the subs to the outside of the towers after doing the sub crawl. I am planning to experiment raising them up 12'' or 24'' to see. Some members here have done that and not gone back.

Yes, the beginning pics. The speaker arrangement were determined after careful calibration:eek: . Every thread on this forum should have a "beginning pic"biggrin.gif

Oh I know about A4L, but unfortunately, they wont ship any AVRs to Canada as the manufacturers won't honor the warranty. There is a store on eBay that sells Denons refurbish and and they have a few for $1500. They claim to be an authorized reseller but when I ask Denon, they don't seem to want to give me a straight answer. So I'm not comfortable with that.

Love the King Charles by the way, I'm a Spaniel lover! My last dog was a Brittany, he made it to 15.5 years old.

That stinks that they don't honor the warranty. A guy I work with picked one up at Best Buy as a clearence unit new in the box for $1000. Maybe you can find one in the great white north on clearence.

Our Cavaler is great and a big part of the family.

I'd have to get out of the province for the nearest BB and FS has no such thing. We have cheap beers, more snow than one care for, white tail deers aplenty and our women have mustaches, but not much in the way of CE he:eek:

Thanks!, I've been using it every morning and it's been super reliable. No dial scratching and the FM reception is strong but nothing to write home about. Liking it so far.

Thanks! I know I'll enjoy it. Can't run ARC until later this week as the dealer had all their Keyspan adapters in the installers trucks for W/E jobs. Did everything I could so far:
~set all video configuration
~renamed all the inputs to my needs
~set all my speaker distances (although it may change after I do the quick measure for optimal placement)
~Installed ARC software from CD and then the upgraded version 3.0.2

somewhat user friendly so far as I was able to do all of this without looking at the manual yet:cool:. But I have it handy. The MRX thread is ridiculously helpfull.

Now, I'm off to programing good 'ol Harmony biggrin.gif

cheers

Picked these up for $50. A little cleaning, pledge, and fabric paint on the grill and voila.

They sound pretty descent, great bass, good highs, lacking a little in the mids but overall I'm happy with my spending.

Cheers
