I have to buy a 2.1 and need to choose from the following options i came up with after little research:

1. Bose cinemate -II
2. Yamaha YMC-S21BL
3. Onkyo HTX-22HDX Ultra-Compact HD Home Theater System

Please advise.

Thanks

I think thats a very good option, thank you very much.

Just two doubts:

- is pioneer receiver worth it or should i look for onkyo or denon ?

- is Yamaha speaker worth it (given its 2 yrs old model) or should i look like def tech, klipsch or polk etc ?

Is this beatable, in this price range ?

P.S I dont need 3-d or internet ready features

Yamaha NS-333 2-Way Bass Reflex Bookshelf Speakers
$189.95

Energy ESW-M6 800 Watt Mini Subwoofer
$199

Pioneer VSX-920-K 7.1 Home Theater Receiver

I will upgrade if needed with a polk center some time ahead.

yes, it is. spend more on speakers and less on the receiver.

In addition, you want the front 3 speakers to be matched by the same line (timbre matching). So, if you get the Yamaha NS-333 you need to get the matching center (Yamaha NS-C444).

I'd go for the Pioneer VSX-521-K 5.1 for $180 at newegg

speakers could be...

polk rti4 same as Polk RTi A1 (better than polk TSi series you see at bestbuy) - $150

http://www.ebay.com/itm/PAIR-RTi4-CH...item53e9fe7a87

LAVA LSP10 Subwoofer for about $210 after AVS 15% discount.

so the receiver & sub is finalised.

Reading about speakers, isnt yamaha ns-333 ones better than polk rti4 ?
I have the RTi series and enjoy them. Honestly, I would go to bestbuy and listen to the Polk TSi line and if you like the sound you will like the RTi series better.

EDIT: When you wish to purchase a center, the CSi3 or CSi A4 (same thing) would be a proper match.

choosing refurb- can get denon from dakmart , HK from ebay, both ~250-280

I think its better of than going for new pioneer, yamaha, onkyo etc, especially after going through various posts in this forum.

Please advise out of HK or denon as above.

Go with whatever features you need/want. The difference in sound quality between the receivers will be negligible. Good luck!
