From director Rian Johnson (Brick, The Brothers Bloom) comes a brand new, original sci-fi action film. What adds to the intrigue is that this is the first film that filmmaker Shane Carruth has been involved with since his incredible debut Primer back in 2004. Shane has been involved with visual FX and other post work. Shane has written his next film. called A Topiary and is currently seeking funding. I imagine his friendship with Rian and his being on the verge of his next undertaking is what has driven him to work on this film.
Anyway, Rian describes the films as such: Looper is a time travel movie, set in a near future where time travel doesn’t exist but will be invented in a few decades. It’s pretty dark in tone, much different from Bloom, and involves a group of killers (called Loopers) who work for a crime syndicate in the future. Their bosses send their targets hogtied and blindfolded back in time to the Loopers, and their job is to simply shoot them in the head and dispose of the body. So the target vanishes from the future and the Loopers dispose of a corpse that doesn’t technically exist, a very clean system. Complications set in from there..
Cast is Piper Perabo, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. The official tagline is "A killer who works for the mob of the future recognizes one of his targets as his future self.", and the release date is late September.

One excerpt from AICN: LOOPER is an intricately structured story enlivened by Johnson’s trademark wit and wounded romanticism. It’s an invigorating, thrilling, ceaselessly inventive film, a miracle in an era of by-committee studio filmmaking. And while it’s still months from being finished, barring any postproduction monkey business, it’s already a great movie.

) His look reminded me of Daniel Craig.
