Looking for a 120" fixed frame screen for my basement. I am looking at getting an HD20 for watching sports (HOCKEY) and my son playing PS3. Some movies as well but not a big movie buff but will be used for movies to. Just trying to keep budget low as possible. Any opinions?

I have a 120" Elite Screens Sable Frame with cinewhite fabric. The frame is acceptable but the fabric is terrible especially for hockey. I have bad hotspotting and ugly texturing that looks terrible when ice is being displayed. I'm sending this screen back and am in the hunt for something better. You should consider looking at Jamestown Screens and seeing what the user of those screens have to say about hotspotting and texture. I'm sure some more people will chime in with some recommendations.

I have a budget screen similar to the elite (visual apex) and it does a pretty good job most of the time but I agree with the previous poster....I do notice some texture at times.

I absolutely loved my Carada Brilliant White that I had to leave as part of our house sale. I plan to go back to that once the budget allows for a second projector and relocate my current screen to a secondary room.

That Carada is phenomenal with the whites of ice....but it is at least a few hundred more.

That's an option but you have to do some research because some people treat some of their paint mixes like their babies. No matter how ugly their baby is they think it's cute. I'm pretty sure some of these guys make money selling their ugly baby too.

I don't own stock in Jamestown Screens or anything but one thing to check out is that the way they designed their screen I believe you could easily upgrade the material at a later time with some Da-Lite material that can be bought online by the foot when your budget can handle it.

Check out the website carlofet.com Carl sells bulk screen material and his site has very good step-by-step instructions for building your own fixed screen. I have not used his products but his site is the apparent gold standard for outdoor theater enthusiasts.

Definitely! I've made two Screen Goo screens and I loved both of 'em.

Here's a pic of the 133" one...

Surprised that Vapex fixed screens haven't been mentioned yet.

I just sold my VApex 100". It was a great looking screen for the money.
