Tab tension REALLY needed?

OK from what I am reading in a few searches people basically say "go tab tensioned or go home" in like 90% of threads...

Fixed is best - but not an option for me at this time, maybe not for a long time. I really don't want to replace a screen every year either.

Thinking of a 106" Vapex tension screen. However the same size screen in "non tab" is significantly less.

Are the votes really for tension - even if it is $400 more for the same screen size?

You kind of answered you own question...

Non tensioned will do for a time - and it has, but it's my goal too.

Well, after thinking it over I decided to bite the bullet in advance and go tensioned. Especially after reading some comments about the inexpensive screens having slight waves from the beginning.

Going to give the VApex a shot.

Good Decision. My first screen was a manual "roll down" from Draper. After I year I noticed significant sag and rippling of the screen material. I replaced it with a Stewart tab-tensioned Firehawk and it's been absolutely perfect for 5 years.
