Just plugged in a Sony S790 and the image is shifted all the way to the right. Cable tv is perfectly in the center are each of the inputs in need of being adjusted? Is it the blu ray player or the 6010 that I need to adjust?

Just setup my new Epson 6010 and posted my quick review in the comparison thread. Here's the link.

Hi All

I've been reading this forum since last fall. Last weekend I picked up my Epson 6010 from a local vender. They had one set up so anyone coming into the store can see it. I installed it weekend before last. It pretty simple to do once you figure out the slightly incomplete ceiling mount instructions. I used 2-3" lag screws to secure the base to the ceiling joist. This is not going anywhere. I leveled the attachment plate front/back/left/right before adding the projector. I got my screen last Tuesday. It's a Elite screen Cinewhite ez screen at 138" 2.35:1. Leaves only a foot of wall on each side. Enough room for my speakers. I got the screen up over the weekend (I travel for work 4-5 days a week) and set up the projector. All I did was zoom/focus and some horizontal/vertical shift. The only thing to tweak is rotate the projetor on the z axis to remove a slight keystone on the right side of the screen. Default setting is THX and the picture is fantastic. Great color. When I get a chance I'll post some picture.

Just wondering what you're doing to take advantage of your screen. Did you also by their (Panamorph) A-lens option too?
No lens yet. Maybe way down the road so the screen is advanced planning. Right now I'll zoom/focus. The bottom (top) of the projector is about 6 1/2' off the floor, so the controls are easily reached. Lens to screen is about 14' and I sit about 12' from the screen. I haven't tried a 2.35 to 1 movie yet. I also plan to make something to cover over the ends of the screen when watching 16:9 tv/movies. This actually replaces my 65" Pansonic plasma but just seemed a little too small.

Hear No Evil in Westminster has one on display in their home theater.

They've had five people come in who were shopping for a JVC DLA-RS55, and to date all five chose to purchase the 6010 instead.

Thanks I actually purchase a 6010 today from ListenUp in Denver. This place is totally amazing, They have everything you could possibly want for HT and Audio. Middle end to super super high end they got it. They worked real hard to get the price down to where I wanted to be. Scotty G was my saleman and he really helped me a lot. I also want to give a shout out to msc728 for recommending programmergeek a dealer who is posting in the 6010 thread his price was better than Listen Up by $100. The reason I went with Listen up is because they are local, plus they had 12 months 0% financing, not that I needed it, I had a check in hand. So my story ends here, I finally got the projector I wanted, NOW I can update my Elite 110" to a bigger better screen in a few months.

As an aside, ListenUp is a JVC and Sony dealer as well; the Boulder store has a JVC 55 on display, but though they sell it they don't have a VW95 on display at any of their stores.

I'm sorry we didn't do busness but am actually much more happy you found a local dealer. It is well worth the extra money in case you have an issue. If you have any questions or need advise don't hesitate to contact me. Sure I can't talk you into a Balck Diamond screen to go with that 6010, that is our killer set up right now? Just kiddn.

I couldn't help noticing your location. I live in the area and I am in the market for a new projector. Do you have a store for demo?

Getting ready to install the 6010 and wondering if there is a sweet spot for distance from screen to projector for best 3D as well as 2D projection? What about seating? I have 2 rows which can be moved if needed. At the time the seats are at 12.5' and 15.5' from the screen. I am using a Carada 118 Brilliant White screen. Thanks for your assistance...

I would mount as "close" as you can...minus a foot or so.  Meaning if the MINIMUM throw for that size screen is 12', then mount at say 13'.

Seating is all relative to how comfortable you are...you could go a bit closer in seating, but what you have is not too bad.

Thanks, I will try it.

The closer the projector, the more hotspotting and lower contrast, no?

You ONLY GET HOTSPOTTING with a BAD Screen.

No...not necessarily. You can get hotspotting on Stewart's best reference screen in certain situations. True, a bad screen will make it worse, but there are MANY factors that can affect if you get it and how much.

Hi Techies,

I have been using my Epson 6010 for a few weeks now and I am finding it to be a very satisfying piece of equipment.
It works great with my Bell ExpressVu satellite (720p).

However, I am having problems when trying to feed 1080p (over HDMI) from my HTPC.
Everything works great at 1080x720 but when I try to use 1920x1080 the projector display blanks out frequently and I see a message saying there is no input on the HDMI1 port.
The image usually returns after a few minutes but then blanks out again.

I had suspected an HDMI cable or receiver issue but I bypassed the receiver and connected a short cable to the HDMI2 port. The symptoms were exactly the same.

The HTPC display is rock-solid on my LCD monitor. I even swapped out the Radeon HD6750 with a Radeon HD7770 just-in-case.
All the HTPC drivers and firmware are up-to-date as wella asa the 6010 firmware (1.4).

Epson support didn't have any ideas other than it might be a cable issue.

Have any members seen a similar issue or know a solution to my problem?

Thanks

Hi Oracle_Ed,

I believe that it must be a timing/sync issue with the projector. It probably is not happy with the vertical refresh rate of the signal. See if you can change the vertical rate slightly at the output of the PC. If it is 60Hz see if you set it to 59Hz. Try that and see what happens. Good luck!

Is your hdmi cable at least 1.3 compliant? I had issues running my blu-ray with mine, at 1080p, but my video feed off my Dish satellite was fine.
Hi Kevin,

Thanks for taking the time to provide your advice.

I did try 59Hz tonight but it didn't result in any difference.

Interestingly, the 6010 is ok with a 1920x1080 60Hz VGA signal derived from a DVI-to-VGA adapter attached to the ASUS HD7770 card.

Also split screen worked nicely.

I guess its back to the investigations.

Thanks for your help.

Regards,
Ed

I am using a 25' HDMI 1.4 compliant cable in my setup.
Thinking it might have been a bad cable or damaged in the installation through ceiling and walls, I have done the testing with a 12' HDMI 1.3 cable.

I think this is may be some kind of pc-pj compatibility issue as I tested a low-end graphics card out of my wife's pc and it worked fine (as far as stability) in the same pc and using the same cable.

weird stuff

Thanks for taking the time to help me.
Further to my post.

Thanks to those who replied with their suggestions.

I did some more testing and found that the 6010 is ok with a 1920x1080 60Hz VGA signal derived from a DVI-to-VGA adapter attached to the ASUS HD7770 card.

Also split screen worked nicely.

However, when I also connected the HDMI cable to the 6010, the VGA (PC) input would blank out the same as when viewing HDMI directly.

I suspect that the 6010 HDMI port is active at all times, regardless of which input you have selected for viewing.
Probably some HDCP incompatibility is causing the 6010 to tell the video card to turn off its outputs.

I don't know the solution yet, but perhaps this post may help someone else who is also experiencing simillar issues.

I aggree at this point unless you need the light output you can look at the jvc 4k with zoom. It is a nice projector but nearing the 8k point, but the epson with the lens will cost you near that. We have used the uh480 with the Epson and it is really nice and bright but you have the normal Anamorphic issues. All depends if you need the brightness.

I joined the 6010 group. Shipped off my 8700 today and waiting for my 6010 to arrive on Friday. Grabbed an Oppo BDP-93 and 4 Extra Epson 3D glasses.

Anyone have any recommendations on the best place to purchase the 6010? Are there any avs deals going on?
Sorry to hijack, but thought it might be better than starting a new thread. Can anyone explain what the 6010's anamorphic lens support does (5010 doesn't have it). Thanks
