Polk Lsi 15's vs. Boston Acoustics VS 336

Well, I have my 3.1 system narrowed down to 2 speakers that are available at a great price. I can get the Lsi's at a great price from a distributor on eBay - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Polk-Audio-S...item336d77cc7e

Or I can get the BA's at a great price from Vann's, http://search.vanns.com/sitesearch/s...n+acoustics+vs

The issue with the BA's is that I can't get a matching center. I have to get a center from BA but it hascherry wood end caps while the speakers are all black.

I have a DD-15 that's about 8 years old. Thinking of getting dual matching subs with the BA's which are really marked down.

Now there's usually a reason. For some reason the VS line never took off where as the LSi line did.

I have a Denon 4311ci for power for now. Any thoughts or opinions would be appreicated.

I can not speak for the LSi towers - all I can tell you is, that the Boston's
are powerful and smooth - and are very detailed, with good definition and
depth. I would not let cherry end caps, get in the way of sound.
Why they did not really take off, is a good question - the ecomony and the
living budgets, play a big part. Also, some companies put more funds into
marketing than others.

Thanks Jim.

I would listen to them first before u buy. If I have the funds for the Polk I would get them in a heartbeat, but they have a very laid back and warm sound that you have to enjoy or else. I havent heard the Ba so I can't comment.

Thanks. I actually had the Lsi's but had to sell them when I moved. They are laid back and power hungry but they sound beautiful with music and are beautiful to look at. I just can't find any BA speaker dealers in LA...they all sell the car stuff or the lower end HT rigs.

They're power hungry as they are 4ohm speakers and would sound best with external amp. BA's you are looking at are 8ohm and not as power hungry

Get the LSi 15's, swap the 8" driver and add external amplification (Carver, Adcom, Parasound, etc...) and enjoy.

Here is the thread over at CP where it began. It's even recommended by Polk engineers.

The Boston is not laid back. They are more on the neutral side.
They will throw a sound stage in front of you, which some people
may think of, as a lively character.
If you are use to a laid back character - then audition, would be
highly reccomended.

Are you trying to get a VS 224? The VS325C is available only in BLACK from Vanns.

Their 5.1 bundle is only $1995 with 336, 260, 325C, and sub....

I just took the plunge and ordered the package today.

Did you receive yours yet?

I now have to figure out how to get rid of my current speakers...
